The next morning, Mercy surprised Surina by joining her for breakfast on the sunny terrace in the backyard of her cottage. They enjoyed the leisurely meal to the sound of honey bees buzzing around an assortment of flowers in full bloom lining the edges of the garden. Indeed, the fragrance of the rhododendrons, chrysanthemums, foxgloves, roses, and lilies of the valley intermingled to create a unique heavenly perfume. In the past, Surina’s kinetic pace never allowed her enough time for breakfast other than a hasty granola bar before frantically rushing off to the hospital. In contrast, today she luxuriated in a proper full English breakfast. There was an impressive array of fried eggs, lovely fat pork sausages, baked beans, crisp fried tomatoes, and crusty toasted brioche with a thick spread of tangy marmalade jam. In fact, she needed to bolster her energy reserves for an excursion along the Bowder Stone and Watendlath walking path in the Lake District. “I quit my job since I want to spend more time with my kids while I can!” Mercy …show more content…
Fortunately, a knowledgeable tour guide would lead the way and explain the history of the picturesque villages along the way as well as ensure the safety of the entire group. He was a fit and energetic young man known for setting a brisk pace for the rest to follow. Due to his extensive time outdoors, he had developed a ruddy sunburnt complexion. He greeted each member of the walking tour as they arrived at the Brandelhow landing stage and handed out a map of the points of interest along the way. “Welcome, Dr. Mathew to the Lake District,” he trumpeted in his booming voice as he squinted in the summer Sun. “The weather is perfect for us today! By the way, what country are you joining us from?” “Oh, I am from right here in Keswick,” Surina answered as she always did. “This is my

The Midwest is home to states with rich cultural backgrounds and popular tourist attractions. To take a break from the busy schedule I have as a student, and to avoid writing more essays like this, I went on a vacation to Michigan with my mother and two siblings. We visited South Haven, a pleasant port city on Lake Michigan’s east coast, and Detroit, the famous largest city in Michigan. These areas interest me because there’s plenty to do; there are amazing restaurants, breath-taking scenery, and family-friendly, inexpensive entertainment. South Haven is famed for its relaxed atmosphere and homely feel.…

Our field trip to Chicago offered me a new way of seeing the city. I have been to Chicago multiple times, yet this trip offered me an experience I was not expecting. It offered me an insight to the darkness that covers the city and the beacons of light that try to shine through that darkness. It opened my eyes to those who are searching for a truth, a love and an acceptance and are finding it in so many different places; whether it is Jesus People USA, South East Friendship Center, Olive Branch, a Krishna Temple or an Islamic Mosque. In each of these places individuals are just trying to figure out where they belong and if they can find acceptance, but what each offers is entirely different.…

It started with spiced nuts, mini-quiches, stuffed mushrooms, cheese, crackers, smoked salmon, and assorted types of gourmet popcorn, both sweet and savory. The popcorn had been a huge hit. Arthur saved room for the main courses which was roast duck, cheese fondue, baked acorn squash, salads galore, and a vegan eggplant parmesan. By the time Tristan and Annis brought out desserts of pies, cookies, fudge, ice cream, and fixings for a sundae bar, Arthur could barely move, he was so stuffed, and he was paying for it today.…

Anne Hathaway’s Garden, a place of seemingly everlasting beauty and history, was one of the stops on my first trip to Europe. My high school offered a travel club for students to travel somewhere of their choice, and this year I was able to finally fulfill my dreams of visiting Ireland, however, along with Ireland came a trip through Wales and into England. This was how I came to be in Anne Hathaway’s garden. Our travel club, which only consisted of myself and my teacher, was joined by students from North Carolina and California.…

I went on a road trip to Lake Tahoe with my friends the week after graduation in June. We rented a cabin near the lake and spent four nights kayaking, hiking, and exploring different scenic spots throughout the area. My favorite (and scariest!) part of the trip was working up the courage to jump off a 20 foot cliff into the lake. The trip was a great way to wrap up our time at UCLA, and it gave us a chance to hang out together one last time before we went our separate ways.…

Driving down the road with my mom is possibly the best feeling in the world. The music blasting as smiles spread across our faces and we fill the air with our horrible singing voices. Today was different than all the other car rides with my mom, a shorter distance is what made it different, we were driving down the bumpy alley way onto the smooth road to make our way to the Middle School, but we made a quick stop to grab coffee. Today was the day that we depart for the Cedar Point trip; an amusement park with Roller Coasters hundreds of feet in the air, some built over water, some built straight up with twists and turns. That day was supposed to be amazing, the sky was clear; only a few clouds to be seen, but they were the pretty clouds,…
