The Trip
“Summer, lets go!” my mom shook me.
As I opened my eyes, I could barely see the airport through all the fog. I was about to go on the most exciting trip ever. Spain! I was going to Spain! I couldn’t believe it! I was going there to see my grandparents. I was going across the entire ocean. As I got out of the car I grabbed my passport and my mom came around the car with my suitcase. We walked through the parking lot and I could feel the shivers going down my spine. It was really cold and I was a little disappointed because it's also cold in Spain where my grandparents live. That means it won’t be getting much warmer. It was about 50 degrees but I was used to the cold since I lived in New Jersey.

I grabbed a drink on the way down to gate 4 from the food court. Other than that we went straight to the gate. I sat down, knowing that I didn’t have much time till my flight left, maybe like 30 minutes to an hour. My mom looked at me and told me that she was going to miss me. I was only going to be gone for a week and a half which was not that long to me. And I wasn't that sad to leave considering that I got to miss …show more content…
I realized the plane was a lot smaller than the ones I’ve flown on before. I pulled my ear-buds out of my bag and plugged them into my phone. About 15 minutes into the flight a lady with blond hair and hot pink lips asked me what I wanted to drink. She wore black pants with a blue shirt and a white button down shirt underneath it. I realized that she had a shiny airplane pin on the right side of her shirt. I ended up asking for a Sprite. About 15 more minutes went by and my Sprite finally arrived. By that time I already got the pretzels and peanuts that they hand out on, almost like every flight i've ever been on. They were pretty good I wasn’t going to lie. I felt myself dozing off as I looked out the window. It was a really boring view all you could see was white clouds. Next thing I knew my eyes were

I was only 14 when I went on my mission trip, but experiencing that such a young age has shaped me for who I am. I was involved in three mission trips, which all occurred in the States, but in all three-mission trips I helped people who I believe needed it most. I was proud of what I did and I think it was something that not a lot of people did at my age. One of my biggest motivators were the people I was helping. After going on my first trip, I had bonded with others and had made me realize what the real world is like outside a small town in Iowa.…

The thing about running is that you hate it until it’s over, at least for me that’s true. Personally, I like running, and it gives me a chance to get out and work towards something. All throughout high school, I’ve run track, and for two years I ran cross-country, both are great sports. The two years I ran cross-country made me wish I ran all four years. If you’re part of more than one sport, it’s natural to choose a favorite.…

The purpose of a mission trip is not to save everyone or solve hunger. Many people who take mission trip have this mentality, and I 'm not going to lie, my first mission trip this is what I expected. I believed that I was going to be the one person to go down and “change” the people. This idea is far from reality, but I realize that you can make a difference in some people’s lives. I have taken a few mission trips to the Dominican Republic, where I have built relationships with the people down there.…
