Personal Narrative Essay: A Story Of A Bad Accident

Improved Essays
A few years ago I had a pretty bad accident. It was in the afternoon on the day before school started. I was riding my four wheeler down the gravel road because there really isn’t anything else to do out in the country where I live. I was just cruising down the road that day when I decided I wanted to do a wheelie. Usually when I did wheelies I would just sit down and try to ride one, but this time I wanted to try something new.
This time I was going to do a wheelie with my foot in the bar on the back of the four wheeler. All I had to do was get going down the road at a pretty slow speed then get my foot in the back bar and gun it. This had worked pretty good the other couple times I had tried it, but unfortunately this time when I shifted into second gear I hit the throttle a little too hard and the fourwheeler stood up. When it stood up it hit the ground so hard that it threw my legs onto the ground. I don’t know why but when it stood up I didn’t let go of the handle bars. Since I didn’t let go the four wheeler was just dragging me down the road. It drug me pretty far before before it finally stopped. Once it stopped and I stood up I turned around and saw that there was a car coming down the road behind me. When I saw the car I was embarrassed so I pushed the four wheeler back onto it’s wheels

Since my Grandma actually answered the phone she came and got me and took me to the doctor. Once we made it to the doctor he unwrapped my leg and looked at my knee. The doctor said that i would make it, but that I also needed to take it easy on my leg for at least a week. After he wrapped my leg up he gave me some antibiotics to take for the next week that way my road rash wouldn’t get infected. The next day school started and the only good thing about it was that I got to set out of gym for the first week of school since it was so awkward to even walk with my leg all wrapped

Often times I would feel as if it was expected that I partake in "manly" activities that just made me feel uncomfortable. Cat-calling and football just weren 't for me. I looked up to my left and saw a guard rail with a river behind it, the car was heading towards it. My sister took control of the wheel and steered us the best she could towards the ditch. It was all green everywhere as the rear of the car hit the ditch first and spun us around, sending the front hitting the ditch as well. We spun around one more time, completing two 360’s. It might have been the wrong thought, but I was thinking about the airbags deploying at top speed, knocking us in the face, and injuring…
