Middle school was supposed to be a time to learn new things, meet new people, and prepare the young students for High School. Mostly, a great time for teenagers to find themselves. Well, not at the Middle School I attended. I attended my seventh and eighth grade years at Athens Middle School.
Before actually attending the Middle School, there were always horror stories going around about how terrible it was. The teachers were supposed to be the devil and the eighth graders are supposed to be the devil’s children. Those insane stories never bothered me because I knew they were just meant to make the new seventh graders scared. She dragged her dragon claws on the back of my neck where I still have the war wounds till this day. I turn around with my hands charging at her head and grabbing the mop that she called hair and we both went rolling down the stairs. Once we landed on the cold locker room floor I got a kick to the head. I have never had so many thoughts run through my head so fast. I thought about all the times I was picked on and how people always try to take advantage of me. All that anger came out in two point five seconds on Precious Miller. I got up, kicked her back in her head, got on my knees, and just started punching her and pulling her hair. Before I could let all my anger and frustration out on her, Mrs. Donald had me jacked up by the arm and had was walking me straight to the principal’s office.
Later that night at home I got a phone call, it was Precious. She was calling to apologize and I just could not find the word to apologize back to her. I know that violence is never the right way to handle a situation, but I do not regret one bit of what happened that day. I stood up for myself and my best friend.
