I laid in bed staring at the cream colored ceiling. The room smelled of dust and perfume. There was a few posters on the walls. The mattress and box spring laid on the floor with no bed frame. The room was freezing like it always was. Liz my friend was passed out right next to me. I grabbed my phone from under the pillow. It was 1:12 a.m. I had been staying here a lot since my home issues got worse. I felt my phone buzz on my stomach. I looked at it and there was a message from Josh right on time. Josh is Liz’s brother. “Look at the door.” The text said and I looked over. He mouthed “can’t sleep?” I nodded and stood up. The house smelled of pizza. We carried the bags up to Liz’s room and hurried down to eat. We dished up our food and grabbed our drinks and sat in the living room together. We watched ‘The Voice’. We had just finished cleaning up when I got a call from my mom. “You need to come home now!” my mother yelled at me through the phone. “I-I gotta go.” I said nervously as I grabbed my backpack and pulled on my shoes. Josh looked at me with terror in his eyes. “You’re not going there alone.” He said but I just shook my head no tears finally free falling. “That will only just make her more upset with me.” I said. I was now full on shaking. “I don’t care.” He said grabbing his car keys. We got into the car and I felt like the drive was taking forever. My heart was thumping to loud and so hard that I thought I was going to be sick. I checked the time. It was only 8:37 p.m. my dad didn’t get home till ten or eleven. My dad always stood up for me and my mom hated it because somewhere in her sick twisted head I was this bad child. She took everything out on me. We pulled up to the house to find my three younger sisters sitting on the porch. It was freezing outside. Josh had them all sit in the car with a blanket to warm them up. They looked horrified.
