Past Wars Chapter Summary

7: REMEMBER past victories
When dealing with a giant, or something very overwhelming, we need to look back into our past and find occasions, that we mastered or overcame. For me this was when I moved to Brazil, I remembered, that I could do this, because before I lived 3 years in Sydney, Australia. After all to adapt to the culture and the difficult economy, moving to Brazil was much more challenging. Nevertheless I reminded myself, that God provided for me in Sydney, so he could do it in Brazil, too. And He did, even though my initial move to Brazil was very challenging.
Now let us read, what David reminded himself of, when king Saul told him, that he was neither equipped nor trained to fight Goliath:
1Sa 17:34 "Your Majesty," David said,

How do we know the enemy is actually afraid of God's chosen people? Have a look at Joshua 2:8-11 again. This is when the 40 years were over, Moses died and Joshua (who was one of the spies!) took over the leadership and has sent spies into the land one more time.
This was shocking for them to realize, that in reality, they were the giants everyone was afraid of. If you would want to give this book a different title it would be “You are bigger than the giant”, in fact: You are the giant!
I can't stress this point enough, it is your perspective that defines if you actually will fight and take down the giant. You are the giant. God has given you the authority to stamp on scorpions. The power that has risen Christ from the dead lives within you. You are the giant. Take courage, take heart, take strength from God. The Holy spirit wants to minister to you right now.
1Sa 17:45 David said to the Philistine, "You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. (NIV)
Don't be surprised by the giant. Listen to God, not the giant do not let the circumstances or challenges let dictate the battle rules and take the giant down at the first

In Canto thirty one, the focus is centered around large ideas. The main focal point are the giants who Dante describe as “lofty towers” (265). These giants are depicted by Dante as those “whom Jove still rumbles at / With menace when he thunders” (267). First, they were defeated by Jove in the battle of Phlegra which consisted of Jove invading a plain in which a group of one hundred giants, the Gigantes, lived. The Giants were outnumbered by Jove and his allied gods which resulted in the gods killing many of the Giants and winning the battle.…

“Giants are not what we think they are. The same qualities that appear to give them strength are often the sources of great weakness. And the fact of being an underdog can change people in ways that we often fail to appreciate: it can open doors and create opportunities and educate and enlighten and make possible what might otherwise have seemed unthinkable.” Honestly, I have never really thought about it like that, nor have I thought about how there could be…

In Malcolm Gladwell’s non-fictional book David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants he carefully utilizes anecdotes, studies, charts, and research to analyze, “...What happens when ordinary people confront giants” (Gladwell 5). He takes the original Biblical story of David and Goliath and breaks down each side to certain advantages and disadvantages. Anyone who knows this story may make the mistake of assuming that this story's about the weak beating the powerful. The vulnerable one in this case will be Goliath, a slow, stagarring, and half blind giant (14). A common theme can be followed throughout his book, where the strong giants are often surprisingly weak and those who seem to be weak underdogs turn out to be…

In David and Goliath, Malcolm Gladwell wrote this book in a form of many stories based on the moral of the biblical story David and Goliath. He takes us through three parts with different stories of people who are faced with giants. In this case, “Giants” means obstacles or situations put in place that appear to be too big for an ordinary person to overcome. Malcolm Gladwell explains that he wants to explore two ideas in David and Goliath. One is that “Much of what we consider valuable in our world arises out of these kinds of lopsided conflicts,…

" We find Israel and Samuel had a difference of opinions, because this displeased Samuel. As a result, Samuel prayed to the lord and God answered in I Samuel 8:7-8 " And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them. 8…

What was Saul’s Seance, a very interesting story told in the bible. While witchcraft is very real, its greatest strength lies in the power of deception. Mark Twain once wrote, “It's not the size of the dog in the fight, it's the size of the fight in the dog.” As the wise man that Mark Twain was, he always spoke with truth in the pieces he wrote. I find this quote inspirational to the fact that the size of an individual has no influence on the issue he/she faces if the fierceness on the inside is absolute. As a wrestler, I was taught to have this fierceness with me at all times and in everything I do. Because I have obtained this mindset throughout my wrestling career, I stride to teach others this way of thinking.…
