Personal Narrative-Eric Church Concert

Improved Essays
The hot, steamy weather did not stop me from having what I thought would be an exhilarating night. I could not wait for the blinding lights, screaming fans, and fatty food. This was the night I looked forward to all summer. Nothing could ruin my night, but I had thought to soon. I did not anticipate many mishaps to wreck the long awaited Eric Church concert. As I arrived at the concert, my heart was pounding vigorously; some might have thought I was having palpitations. My mom and I walked the concrete strip leading us to the huge stage back grounded by the Intracoastal Canal in Alabama. We had memorable spots in the pit where we were about thirty feet from the stage. My excitement diminished a little when I saw the boisterous crowd of people.

On May 9, 2015, Garvey’s Advanced Band and Mustang Choir went to the Trills and Thrills Festival at Burbank Middle School. We had to be at school by 7:15 AM since it was our call time, and that was way too early for me since I usually sleep at 12 AM. I was in Advanced Band and I played the clarinet. Of course I was excited to play at the competition, but I was also nervous since we were going to Six Flags afterwards and I had a huge fear of heights.…

The time was upon us. It was a quarter to nine o’clock, and we were about to miss our favorite band. I felt the butterflies as they grew in my stomach. When Dan and I approached the main stage we saw “Nahko & Medicine for the People” setting up. The butterflies bounced off the inside of my stomach as Nahko spoke into his microphone.…

There really is nothing more relaxing and exhilarating than going to watch a live musical performance. Especially when the performer is going to be none other than your favorite artist. Although the location where the performance is held is important, the intensity and energy of both the performer and the crowd are what really makes a concert great. Upon arrival to the venue I couldn’t help but notice that it resembled an old movie theater. The building wore a coat of a creamy orange complexion along as well as a maroon Spanish tilled hat.…

Concerts have always been a way for the general public to experience their favorite artists and musicians perform right in front of them. I myself have been to several concerts, all of which have been rap and hip hop concerts. So going to an orchestral concert was going to be a very different experience to me. I know that there wasn’t going to be any mosh pits or excessive screaming of fans throwing themselves onto the performers. With all that in mind, I was mentally preparing myself for a very different experience, and honestly, I was more than ecstatic to go than I should have been.…

I sit in the balcony of the performing arts center, watching the stage intently as soft lights glint off of violins, flutes, and kettle drums. As the orchestra plays a swelling concert ‘A’, signaling the show will begin momentarily, my chest rises up in unison. People across the auditorium let out thunderous applause as the conductor strides onto his podium. The auditorium falls silent except for the sound of those hurrying to clear their throats and cough. The conductor raises his arms, baton resting gently in his left hand.…
