I believed in my ability, while recognizing the talents of others. My hopes for a lead role persisted, but I was constantly let down. Although these occurrences saddened me greatly, they taught me how to deal with disappointment. While allowing myself to hope, I also recognized the possibility that things would not turn out the way I wanted.
Participating in stage productions also helped me to realize that it is important to work hard on even the most undesirable of tasks. Occasionally, I was given roles I had no interest in; still, I put in the same amount of effort as if I were given the role I wanted. Unpleasant assignments cannot be performed half-heartedly, and complaining does nothing to expedite their conclusions. When a person makes a commitment, they must carry out their responsibilities thoroughly.
Performing is an essential aspect of my life. It has made me humbler, more persistent, and more willing to follow through with unwanted tasks. The entire experience of acting has provided me with self-discipline and willpower that has changed me in a way nothing else ever could. Of two things I am sure: that I will always keep the theatre in my life, and that I will always keep in mind the lessons it has taught me.
