After Haley left, I binge-listened to podcasts and alternated sleeping and playing with Pansa, Katie and Paco’s cat, for a day. I was exhausted – having Haley with me had been amazing, but so much happened, so many painkillers taken, so many feet of altitude lost within seven seconds, so much chili relleno consumed, that I just needed a break. I got it and then some, my laziness that day was unprecedented on my trip. Also, Pansa was attention- starved. Who am I to say no?
