The usual morning greeting has been exchanged, and an arrangement of action for the upcoming drug bust is about to be discussed.
“A consistent team must be accumulated.” The lieutenant began to appoint his team. “Thomas and Peterson, take down car. Jones and Davis, take down car. Navarro and William, unmarked car. Lee and Gomez, unmarked car. Duval, Yang, West, and Walker, unmarked van. Nunez and Cavil, on foot. Gibson and Salazar, the drug addicts.” The male officers immediately gawked at Mary and Eddie. “Ladies, only one of you will approach the dealer and persuade that person to present the product for a bust.” A second of silence was given. “Please step out the room, discuss and decide who will do what.”

“Salazar will approach.” Dominic leaned back in his chair with his arms now crossed. Damn it! Why? Will she come out of this safely? Will I be able to protect her if any harm should happen? Burst of questions interrupts his concertation. Eddie dimly stares at him. “I will supply our wardrobe for our disguise.”
“And I will provide our live in vehicle.” Eddie added.
“Are we all in agreement?” Lieutenant asks.
“Yes sir.”
“Very well, tomorrow we will recap where we left at.” He left his discussion at that, and the crew headed out to their daily assignment.

Together with her partner Duval rode in the light of day, patrolling and focusing the area of prostitution from one side of the street to the next. Their neighborhood cautiously empty, as if the prostitutes felt the presences of an officer strolling nearby.

“The ladies seem to have vanished.” Eddie said. “Only temporarily. The prostitution activity commences in the early evening until the hours of darkness. They rarely come into the daylight, so their deeds aren’t exposed. If we’re not constantly patrolling this area, it can lead to something more. Prostitutes attract strangers and criminal activity such as drugs, violence, and so on.” “Vice officer?” Eddie curiously asks her

The reading from the textbook titled, Tricking and Tripping: Fieldwork on Prostitution in the Era of Aids, by Claire E. Sterk, is also an intro to the book by the author with the same title. The fieldwork is based in New York City and Atlanta in the 1980s, describing the daily life of prostitutes from their own perspectives. In her book she goes over the techniques she used to observe these women in their communities. The research that Sterk conducted on female prostitution and the struggles they may face, was very critical to the trade and the general awareness of the public. Her work is revolutionary because it shuts down the common beliefs on why women become prostitutes, and she wrote in a style that made her research more accessible to…

The book The Lost Sisterhood, talked about one of the oldest “professions” as many people in our society refer to, prostitution. However, Ruth Rosen the author of this book is not trying to show us a study, but instead examination of the great impact that gender, and class had on the lives of women and men who lived in prostitution during the early decades. In the book Mrs. Rosen argues that both sides, prostitutes and reformers were key actors in the history, who understood that they made choices, even when the choices were severely restricted by society. Rosen looks to answer why certain women chose prostitution over other labors, as well as why reformers felt they had such a stake in the future of prostitution. Mrs. Rosen is clear on her…

I am fully aware of my personal addiction, it is one that I began forming at a young age. As a toddler I recall drinking coffee from my grandfathers’ cup as I would sit on his lap. As the years continued a cup of Joe was what I ordered when out to breakfast with my family, it made me feel grown-up. Throughout my high school years, I would proceed to the teachers’ lounge to make myself a mug of steaming java, while assisting teachers in grading papers before other students arrived. Nevertheless, it has never been an issue that I was concerned with, especially beings as stated in the Tablelands Advertiser, it is considered “socially acceptable” in society (2014, p. 11).…

A prostitute in the 18th century was anyone who engaged in sex for money or favors. It is important to note that people could engage in prostitution without it being their sole career. Prostitution could and was most often a side job, used to help supplement low wages in domestic service or other occupations. Those that were career prostitutes were often picked up by a procurer, usually an old woman who would either trick or coerce the adolescent into performing sexual acts for money. These prostitutes would use local inns or taverns as meeting places for their clientele and lived with other prostitutes and a supervisor in a brothel or bawdy-house.…
