My first thought was, "okay, first things first: seat belt!" I went through all the procedures in my head that I had watched my mother go through in hers for years. I had finally gotten what I've been asking for, for months! As I sat there shaking with excitement, my mother turns to me with her, now, serious face and tells me to calm down and that I know exactly what to do. I took a deep breath and put the car in drive. I assume I had tapped the gas petal a little to heavily and we jolted forward. I got nervous again and smashed hard on the break causing us both to lurch forward. We sat there for what it felt like hours until she finally said, "Go slow." So I started again. This time, I gently put my foot on the gas and it was smoother and seemed so much easier. I was making circles around two giant trees that were far apart. We had the windows down and the breeze was blowing lightly on our faces as I was going 10 miles per hour. Finally, after a while I stopped the car and put it in park. I looked to my mother and thanked her for letting me have this wonderful driving experience. I got out the car and the family was smiling and yelling "good job!". We packed up our things and was about to head home. As my mother and I were headed towards the car, I blurted out, "Can I drive us home!". My mother turned to me slightly and said,
