Personal Narrative: Dr. House

Improved Essays
Three years ago, I hopped onto the bandwagon to watch the renowned Television series ‘House’ - with the only exception being that I started with Season Two.Subsequently over time I lived the gruesome journey alongside the characters as they took on the darkest challenges of their lives. Watching the entire show was a breathtaking experience, but little did I know what was yet to come. I had decided to go back and watch the first season which I initially deemed fit to skip – and that is when my entire perspective of television changed. Watching the pilot episode left me numb. I witnessed a Dr. House drastically different from the character he would eventually evolve into, yet I could see each dialogue and scene ripple

I never was the most confident person when it came to competing. I always felt discouraged because I “knew” there would be people better than me. Towards the end of my junior year in high school a special program was announced to the students. “Doc Prep” was a weeklong trip to Baylor College of Medicine that gave ten students the opportunity to witness heart surgeries, practice suturing, handle human brains, and meet many interesting people. Who wouldn’t want to be part of this enriching experience?…

It has come to my attention that my daughter, Samantha Altidor had a meeting with Dr. Banks earlier this week to confirm her to graduate early as you had informed her to do. However I do not understand why Dr. Banks had told her that she needed a 3.6 GPA to qualify to graduate early, when in the 2017-2018 Inlet Grove Handbook states that she only needs a 3.2. Which she has. I do not think it was right that Dr. Banks had informed her she needed a 3.6 GPA now. If it was already written down in handbook for this school year then it wouldn’t be fair to change it now especially since my daughter had began speaking to you about this from the beginning of the school year and you had not mentioned she needed a 3.6 GPA once.…

All the years I’ve lived on Elm Street I have never seen any sign of life in the house across the street, except a family that moved in and moved out only a few weeks later. It’s kind of mysterious actually, and I’ve always wanted to go up to it and walk in to explore. My parents have told me the things they have heard about the house, like there was an “old man whose wife passed away right there in the house, and her spirit still lurks”, maybe that’s why the families have never stayed for more than a month. Sometimes I’ve even caught myself staring at the house from my top window trying to spot things. I want to uncover the real truth about the house that I find myself overwhelmed.…

The flicker of a lamp powered by a dimly lit lightbulb flashed in intervals onto the cracked concrete path. Scattered shrub shavings, dried pine needles, and petrified insects encrusted the crevices left in between the cement squares. The long and narrow path led up to a strong yet aged wooden door that stood at the foot of the house. The house held nine people, three cats, and many tribulations to come. At first glance the house might’ve seemed ordinary; it had five bedrooms, two bathrooms, a laundry room, living room, kitchen etc.…

As the chief Education Officer and President of our school, he whom I interviewed is a man of many qualities. As said by himself, “I have many labels that describe me and who I am and my culture, but first and foremost I identify as a member of the human race and a Pumpian.” If you couldn’t tell already Dr. Pumpian can be a comedian, but he is also a dedicated educator. Mrs. Montag and her friends seem to be constantly enthralled by the superficial TV shows they watch, even going so far as to call the characters in the programs their ‘family’. While watching his wife be engulfed in a show, Montag overhears ‘cousins’ and ‘aunts’ talking. (Bradbury, PAGE). Although people today may not relate themselves to their TV characters, many do obsess over the events of a show. Internet television websites like Netflix and Hulu tempt us to procrastinate, distract us, and most often keep us from socializing with our families.…

The sickness that I live with is one that some would find excessively appalling, making it impossible to talk about; so I kept it to a whisper. This sickness I thought was to embarrassing to talk about, making it impossible to seek help, left me feeling alone in the dark. This sickness ruined friendships, without me realizing it. This sickness that made getting out of bed a struggle for me.
