If only you could see her, her hair was as long as a river her smile was as big as the ocean and her mind was a free as she’d ever be. I wondered how she was so perfect. She was like the thousand-dollar piece at the jewelry store that no one could ever purchase. Her dreams were above and beyond; her sky was the limit. Dory from Finding Nemo was who she reminded me of, “just keep swimming.” She was located on the side where the green grass grows,

I knew Red Lobster was a bad option. I wanted to go to Outback Steakhouse, but mom had her way, even on MY high school graduation. I was stuck, sitting in the booth, waitress staring at me for 15, 16, 17 seconds now. Sitting in my cap and gown, she asked again – “where are you going to college?” I’d prefer the Bloomin’ Onion to this any day of the week.…

Shaking The Captain’s Hand It was the middle of June, and I had just taken my CDA (Child Development Associates) exam. This exam was so important to me because it meant moving up to a higher position on my job as childcare professional. I had to work the next day, so I did not have time to even think about the test results. I was called to the office to speak with my childcare trainer. I thought she had observed me doing something wrong in the classroom, because that is usually the case when you are called to the training office.…

Over the years and years spent on studying mythology, Joseph Campbell came up with the concept of The Hero’s Journey. The Hero’s Journey states that all hero’s travel in a similar path and go through many similar stages that’ll lead them to their reward. However, not every hero’s journey has to involve obstacles as in slaying a dragon or trying to save the world. In my case, I had to do nothing but trying to make it through sixth grade year. Sadly, sixth grade was the year that I faced the most challenges, real world challenges at least.…

Finding Nemo is a 2003 animated film released created by Pixar. In the beginning of the movie, Marlin, a clownfish, and his wife, Coral, greet their many almost born fish in the anemone before a barracuda attacks their home, killing his wife and most of their unborn eggs. The attack not only leaves Marlin distraught over the loss of his love, but leaves him a single father once he discovers that one egg survived. Because of the horrific attack that left Marlin permanently scarred, he plays the role of the overprotective parent in his only son, Nemo’s, life. Due to Marlin’s burdening, restrictive nature, Nemo seeks adventure outside of the cozy lifestyle that Marlin has created for them and finds himself to be a fish out of water, literally, when his adventurous ambition causes him to get abducted by scuba divers.…

I have stayed at a hospital twice in my life. The first time I ended up there by God's decision, but the second time I found myself in the hospital because of mine. My first trip was when I was diagnosed with type one diabetes in the eighth grade. My second trip started with a dreadful decision I made two weeks before winter break earlier this year. Prior to that time I had ordered a shipment of the needles that I needed to inject my daily insulin, but two weeks before break, I ran out of needles entirely.…
