Personal Narrative: Donald Trump

The air was crisp on November 9th of 2016. Tensions rose as students and others gathered anxiously for the decision that would not only impact the next four years but for some could have the possibility of shifting their entire future. The race for presidency was extremely close, with each vote that came in I could hear the crowd change from being extremely hopeful to quiet. This was unlike any other experience I have ever encountered as I was surrounded by 100’s of individuals who normally would never interact with one and another. Many thoughts went flying through my mind, but one stuck was the next resident of the white house going to be the first female president Hillary Clinton, or the reality TV star Donald Trump? How did we get here? …show more content…
I did not know what was happening nor what was about to happen, all I knew was that I was a part of it. I began to think of the collective group and what was happening around me. We started to move, and the next thing I know we had walked all the way to Downtown Oakland, four miles from where we began. On our way, a group stormed the freeway and someone was hit by a car and was sent to urgent care. In Oakland tensions were even higher than they were on Sproul Plaza as people began to set literal fire to the street. I participated with the chants “No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist USA.” Although I knew the decision of Trump in the house was not going to change I felt empowered by being apart of this chant. I continued chanting until I saw people harassing police officers which made me in a sense snap out of it, and step away from the crowd. Once I came to the realization of where I was and what I was a part of I knew I had to go home before anything bad happened. On my way out of the crowd I noticed there was officers arresting people and that there were others loitering stores, my friends and I left the scene and the crowd

    1. Directive: The Personal is Political Central to the United States’ Women’s Liberation Movement (WLM) of the 1960s and 1970s, and prompted by urgency for collectivity; protests, advocacies, and feminist theory spurred the progressive unshackling of women from “male supremacy” and systemic oppression. “The personal is political” has since etched itself into a slogan, an outcry and a representation for women against the backdrop of systematically-indoctrinated patriarchal society. As appendage to Carol Hanisch’s (1970) paper published in Notes from the Second Year: Women’s Liberation – the personal is political was initialized as an assertive rebuttal against dissenters of women’s conscious-raising groups, downplaying their political merits.…

I did attend the Republican debate and it was like some 5 years kids yelling at each other. Yesterday was "Super Tuesday", the day when 11 states held their presidential primaries. Clinton swept through the southern states creating a significant delegate lead over Bernie Sanders. Trump seems invincible now after winning most of the 11 state primaries. I don't know what's happening to America.…

On October 4th, the first and only vice presidential debate was scheduled to take place. Personally, I am not familiar with the role of the vice president other than to break ties in the senate. I didn’t have any idea what to expect from either of these candidates, other than to hear them defend the presidential candidates whom they will serve beneath. I predicted a stronger debate than the presidential debate and a win for the Democratic Party under Tim Kaine.…

Since I was 10, I enjoyed complexity. My fantasies were always the most intricate, and my puzzles were always the hardest. Whenever people asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up, I said President of the United States. What could be more complex than running an entire country? But after I learned that some presidents get assassinated in office, I switched careers.…

Yesterday was the year anniversary of Rob Harris and I going to Donald Trump's rally in Fort Worth, Texas. Bobby, a Cruz supporter and I a firm Rand Paul and anti-Trump conservative. While in line, we passed many proud Hispanics parked on one side of the road blocking traffic. Some had Trump flags dragging on the ground and most carried Mexican flags waving high in the air--and all were blaring mariachi music in protest as they stared into the long line with hatred and disgust as we slowly progressed towards the most intriguing candidate of the 2016 election. As we got closer and closer to the venue there was an exponential increase of protest.…

Have you ever been 12? Probably, but everyone is different when they're 12. When I was a small 12 year old, there wasn't much to me. I was misplaced, sad, scared, and stupid. And when I say stupid, I do mean stupid.…

Before I even decided to place my bid for Presidency; I thought long and hard about how it would affect me personally, mentally and physically. I thought it was necessary to make the decision that is right for not only me but for the country as well. It was tough to decide if I was the right candidate for the Presidency, I wasn’t even sure if I wanted to run for candidacy after I lost so badly in two-thousand-eight to President Obama. Making up my mind wasn’t easy but I thought, everyday Americans want a champion, and I want to be that champion.…

We had been waiting in a line that stretched around an entire city block. Two hours and one security pat down later, we made our way the arena - where we heard yelling from the outside. Perched from atop the second level seats, surrounded by 13,000 other people, he appeared to be a stubby, red-faced troll – almost as if someone had replaced the head on a manikin with an orange beach ball, and adorned it with a mop head. His name was Donald John Trump, or, as some, I soon discovered, prefer to call him, “Our Lord and Savoir Jesus Trump.”…

I’m normally not one to talk about politics, but, well, this wasn’t a normal election. This presidential election was the first one that I, as a 21-year-old, was able to vote in, and you bet I exercised that right. I requested my absentee ballot, filled it out and overnight-ed it to my home state Florida, hoping that it would make a difference. Come Election Day, I flipped on CNN and vehemently watched the poll statistics pour in, only to find myself utterly shocked as Trump’s votes skyrocketed and Clinton’s stagnated.…
