Personal Narrative: Do-Over

Decent Essays
Oh man if I could get a do-over it would have to be my freshman year in high school. I was so hyped up on finally being in high school that I let key parts of my life, particularly grade life slip away.

Now that I'm starting to slip closer and closer to college application time, I'm at a mad scramble to try and pull up my GPA, stay involved in school extracurriculars, and maintain friendships, and work. I wish I had told freshman year me to get my head out of the clouds and actually listen in school. I wish I could get a do-over and retake my Algebra I class that I made the mistake of finding every reason to get under the skin of my Algebra I teacher.

If I could get a do-over I would have told myself that life is going to be different later

These have been such memorable years to me that I will never forget as I grow. I wouldn’t change my experience for anything because I’ve learned and grown so much in the few years I’ve been in high school. In the beginning I thought high school wasn’t an important part of my life. I was just focused on football and goofing off.…

We were waiting to talk to you, my mother wanted to apologize for having moved away, she was not feeling well, it was too hot in the middle of all those people. We were talking about calling you into a cafe when we turned you were leaving the room with a couple. As I said understand anything.…

If I could go back to the past and talk to myself in September 2013, I would tell my younger self to be prepared for the next four years. I would advise myself to plan out my work and actually do assignments ahead of time instead of putting them off until nine o'clock the night before they were due. I would tell myself to not take honors trig because it was too much to handle combined with all of my other classes, as well as saying, that just because it was recommended to take a class, it doesn't mean I should've. I would recommend actually trying to do the workouts for field hockey before preseason. That way it wouldn't be so bad in the future.…

Iclesias Phanord Breaking the Norm I’m surrounded by bouncing basketball and expectations. I had not yet found my vocation. However, many people around me had; whether it was basketball, cheerleading, or track - they had found a purpose that drove them. I did not have anything that I was truly passionate about but when I began playing volleyball, I discovered it and I fell in love with the intensity that came when I touched a volleyball.…

If I could get one do-over in life it would be elementry school. Nothing bad happened in elementary school for me to want to redo it, it was just the best 4 years of my life (even though I’m only 15 years old). It's not like a “Man, i wish i could go back and fix that” redo, but more like a “Gosh, it would be great to go back” redo. Let me explain to you why elementary school would be my one time do-over. For one,I was care-free in elementary, mainly because I barely had homework, and when I did it was only a crossword puzzle or something.…

It was some November day, and the whole gymnasium was silent. I look around and can count 19 girls surrounding me. The only thing you could hear was the heavy breathing of 20 girls after the last basketball tryout. It was almost as if the air was a prized possession and everyone was trying to steal it from each other. The air was filled with sweat and anticipation.…

Losing someone you watched suffer in their last days on earth doesn’t feel anything like losing a friend that was your age who had their whole life ahead of them, and losing both in less than a 2 month span doesn’t help either. The year of 2013 wasn’t the best year for me nor any of my classmates. For me it actually started when I was in the seventh grade, my mom received the rights to take care of my ill grandfather (her father). Turns out he was suffering from early age dementia; caused from drinking at an early age which happened to be 12.…

If you could get one 'do-over' in life, what would it be and why?" There is a lot of things I wished I could do-over. I wish I paid more attention to my Spanish lessons throughout the years so I can be fluent in Spanish. I wish I could go back in time and stop myself from buying my first car because it cost more to get it fix, than it is worth. I wish that I never let my cousin use my car use, I would still have my wallets if I did if I did not trust her in the first place.…

Before even entering high school, I made a decision that would ruin the next few years. Looking back, I had no idea it would have impacted me as much as it did, but even now I still wouldn’t have changed that decision. Everything that came after that decision, no matter how difficult, shaped me into who I am today, and I was able to meet some pretty amazing people and do a few things only a handful of people can say they’ve done. In elementary school, I was in the S.C.O.P.E. (Spotsylvania County Program of Enrichment) program, my county’s way of separating out students who they considered gifted and a distraction in the classroom.…

Senior Year My greatest memory so far in my eighteen years of being on this earth is without a doubt my senior year of high school. It was absolutely unforgettable. My senior year as a whole (which was just last year) was the most fun I’ve ever had in my life and the happiest I have ever been. When I was a chubby little freshman with glasses I thought to myself that high school would be one of the longest time periods of my life and that four years would feel like forty years. But man was I wrong, high school went by in the blink of an eye.…
