Personal Narrative-Discharged Family Life Center

Tuesday, Today started off very fast pace. When I arrived at the Center Jeff was already in the building and he was waiting on me. That was rather strange to me because I'm so used to being the first one to work. I actually felt a little disappointed, because I have such high standards for myself. I called Jeff, and he left me in the highly secured Family Life Center. When I saw him he was wearing a blue polo and khakis. I saw that he observed my attire and smiled, I’m not sure why though. I think its because we were dressed similar. We traveled to his office to have a discussion in regards to what we were going to do today. He said that he wanted me proofread some paperwork for the church and to create a barograph of the data that I …show more content…
I notice that my supervisor is more social when we do hospital visits. We drove to the Seton Medical Facility in Harker Height, Texas where the clients were located. The first visit was with one of the members of the church. He received a kidney from a donor, but he said that it wasn’t working correctly. This particular client went seven years without urinating before receiving his kidney. So when he discovered it he was extremely happy, but not he said that he can’t use the bathroom and on top of that his diabetes is affecting him. I don’t know much about the medical field, but I do know that the client was in pain. It was clear that by the look on his face that he wasn’t doing well and that he really wanted someone to come sit with him for a while. I didn’t want to visit him because he was contagious three days ago. So before Jeff and me went inside we had to wear all of the protective gear that was placed out side of his door. We had on gloves, gowns, caps and visors. It looked like we were about to perform surgery on him. We sat down and spoke with him for about two hours; Jeff did most of the talking as he always does on hospital visits. The client didn’t really have anything negative to say, he spoke about his illness and said that he has faith that everything will get better. He quickly changed conversations to the TV and said that he …show more content…
Grace Christian Center is closed on Fridays so I’m excited about today. When I arrived at the center I had to wait for about three minutes before Jeff came driving into the parking lot. I knew today was going to be a boring day, because yesterday I heard Scott and Jeff talking about something that needed to happen before the end of the week and I knew the task was going to be passed on to me. I was tasked with calling all of February visitors to ask them if they needed anything and if they wanted to sign up for the partnership class that we have coming up on the twenty fifth of June. The purpose for this was to allow the client the opportunity to know that the church provided services to public if they need it. Since I’m in a military town most of the clients are able to provide for themselves therefore they didn’t really need the service, but they signed up for it anyway. Its great that they did because there’s some really good information in the class, and the can pass it on to other that may need it but was unable to attend. The partnership class is a class that people attend to know more about the opportunities available to them through the church. Out of the two hundred people that I called only twenty signed up for the class, but I thought my time was very productive. I was able to fill more slots for the church. This lasted the majority of the day, during the end of the day I did have the pleasure of meeting with

To all the doctors, teachers, peers, and family members who didn’t believe I would amount to greatness, thank you. When I was young, I didn’t understand why school seemed more challenging for me than it did for everyone else. I have been working with children for over ten years and have had many life changing experiences with them. None of those experiences have impacted my life more then what happened to me a year ago. It all happened when a parent came up to me at the school I work at and asked me to be a buddy at a program called Buddy Break. I asked, what is involved, she told me that it involved me having an open mind, warm heart and a little bit of training. With a little bit of convincing I was on board and ready to embark on a new adventure that changed my life.…

My interests in counseling is fuel by hurts and pain of people I observed throughout my lifespan. From the time I could speak, I saw family members, being taunted, by traumatic event that occurred throughout their lifespan. As I watched the hurt and pain of others consume them, I watch them suppressed the pain, in a harmful matter. For the future suppressing the pain, like substance abuse became an unconscious systematic coping method for stressors. Furthermore, as years progressed the hurt and pain presented itself through violence, verbal, and physical abuse.…

Before spring break started, I had no clue as to what my next experience would be about. Every year in the spring, the Jehovah Witnesses have an assembly to encourage one another and to help them draw closer to God. This year the theme was “Maintain Your Love for Jehovah”. The assembly usually takes place in Jackson, but because of March Madness, we were sent to Hammond, Louisiana. A week before we had to go, my grandmother told me that I would have to drive this year.…

As a child, having rules to follow wasn’t unheard of with my family. There was always a way to behavior with friends/family, at school, at home and out in the street. Often I found myself getting into trouble because I didn 't listen and also the fact that I always found some kind of way to slipping out of having to doing something that I knew I was supposed to do. When expectations set high, not meaning them meant my siblings and I typical had a week long cleaning punishments along with handing over all toys, games, and light up sneakers; about three times a week this happened to me.…
