Personal Narrative: Detroit

I was born in Detroit and moved away before I had my brain was able to create memories. The only part of Detroit I knew was downtown. I’d go there for Tiger games, the Science Center, and the D.I.A. Before coming to U of D, I had the same stereotypical view of Detroit as most of United States. I thought of Detroit as being a city with a nice downtown but dangerous and rundown everywhere else. I was so wrong.
Pledge Detroit changed my opinion of Detroit for the better. Particularly my sophomore year assignment of cleaning up Belle Isle’s Abandon Zoo. When we arrived at Belle Isle my homeroom’s assignment was to clear brush from an abandoned path. As our homeroom was working we started clearing brush and placing them on top of plies from previous

The hotel we stayed in for three nights and three days, the Red Roof Inn, cost $59 per night (a total of $177), and also included free breakfast and WiFi. Conveniently, it was also close to many of the places we visited while in Detroit.
