Personal Narrative: Dealing With Depression

All my life, I felt mentally and physically oppressed by depression. It took over every aspect of my life. On October 20, 2010, I was only in 6th grade when I was so miserable that I was willing to take my own life. Luckily, I never went through with it because I was able to get better through self-discovery and self-love resulting in self-healing. This was the event that was not going to change only my life, but my loved ones lives forever. Dealing with this at only 11 years old, it was a struggle to get my life back together. My personal relationships, my academic life, everything was beginning to fall apart. Growing into adolescence, I was so fortunate to later discover what I love, what I used to cope with my depression- music. Music grew
