Personal Narrative: David Hunt For My SAGE Project

Decent Essays
I chose David Hunt for my SAGE project. He is a long time family friend, so I see him frequently. He used to be a realtor, and he actually helped my family buy the house I live in today. He has lived in Northern California all his life, and raised two daughters with his wife, Becky Hunt. I spent many days at his house during elementary, playing with their younger daughter, Nicole. Even though Nicole and I spend less time together, we still have barbeques and see each other frequently. I chose Mr. Hunt for my SAGE project because he has influenced who I am today

Needless to say, when I found out I was chosen as an intern I was excited.…

I didn’t want a mentor that was a few years older I always wanted someone that was almost twice my age, maybe even older than me. My mentor that I will be talking about name is James. As a child growing up in Rhode Island, the smallest state in the Union, the idea of a vast planet brimming with civilization and culture was more like something out of a fairy tale than it was reality. So, when my father announced that we would be leaving the country to go to Scotland, the home of his and my ancestors, my world began to expand at a rapid pace. This trip could not have been timed more perfectly. The summer of 2007 marked the end of fourth grade, my first year at Saint Mary Academy Bay View.…

There are a couple of obstacles that have played a major role in me becoming who I am today. I've had naysayers trying to negatively influence my thoughts, and crush my dreams by saying that said I will never amount to anything, or that I should give up on my dreams and get realistic with my goals. A couple years ago I was a completely different person. I was out of shape physically, my academic performance was very poor, and I had a terrible attitude. I chose David Rudisha because I love athletics and it is a huge part of my life and has been throughout my life. My favourite and best event is the 800m run. David Rudisha is an inspiration to me because he is the fastest runner in the world over 800 meters. He is also the only one to ever get a time of less than 1:41 over 800m. Watching him run and compete so well at such a high level in a sport I love and running the event, I love inspires me, he is the person I’d love to be, and I’ll motivate myself using his achievements and accomplishments and push to be like him and strive for the same goals as he strove to complete so that I can be the best runner I can possibly be. I don’t have much of a relationship with him other than him being a running idol for me, I’ve never met him and don’t know his personality apart from what characteristics he displays through his everyday actions and whatever the media shows of him.…
