Personal Narrative: Dauntless Soldier

ELA90 – Short Story

During the attack of the Dauntless in Erudite headquarters, Tris Prior died. Well, at least in this variation she did. This is how it happened: As Marcus and I parted ways, we walked the same pace. We approached our respective doors, stopped, turned, and shared a look. I looked away and put my hand on the door handle. There does not seem to be a lock. I slowly turned the handle, both eyes closed, expecting something to shoot me. Surprisingly enough, I managed to fully open the door, and didn’t find a mindless, Dauntless soldier pointing a gun at me. I stepped inside and looked around. The room is average-sized, and the same shade of blue as the hallway outside, there is also a door directly facing me. I’m surprised

I have tried to fight back, but she knows what I know. She can predict my actions. When I punch, she blocks. When I kick, she blocks once again. We are the same, but we are also different. But, I do not think I can stand it anymore. However, I have to live! I have to retrieve the information and escape alive. I have to do it… I just have to. I forced myself to sit up, struggling immensely, but still managed to do so. Clone Tris is now charging me, and I use her momentum against her. Probably the only smart thing I’ve done all day. I quickly lay on my back, kick my feet up, and my feet connects with her midsection. I throw my legs back, and she soars through the air, slamming into the wall, nearly penetrating it. After a few moments of silence, she has not moved. I gingerly crawled towards her, and noticed a pool of red liquid on the wall. Her body is positioned in a way I have not seen before. Can human bodies form a 45° angle the other way? I don’t think so. Well, that confirmed simulation Tris’ death. I stayed on the floor, and soon realised this room was a ticking time bomb. How long has it been since the poison activated? Wait… poison! As if on cue, dark spots clouded my vision, and I stumbled forward onto my knees. The door is so close! I dragged my body towards the door and wrapped my fingers around the handle. I turned the handle, and launched my body into the room, shutting the door behind …show more content…
“You came here by yourself?” She took another step towards me, and I noticed she was holding a gun. I slowly flattened against the door. What is she planning? “Y-yes… Yes, I came here by myself. Just myself… no one else.” Tori grasped the gun more tightly. “Why are you being so defensive, Tris? Got something to hide?” While speaking, she was making gestures with the gun in her hand. “I’m not being defensive. You would have already known if I had something to hide, leader.” She does not answer. I look at Jeanine behind her. She has not moved since I got here. Tori seems to have noticed my observation of Jeanine. She crossed her arms, as if this conversation was of no importance to her. “She’s dead, if you haven’t already noticed.” Dead? She can’t be dead! I still need to get the information from

Isolated in a crater, surrounded by deep green mountains, sat Huoron, a squat little town of just over two thousand. On the outskirts lie quaint little cottages with outhouses that were empty now, only to be filled in the summer when people try to escape the ball and chain of modern life. The pure, untainted green of the forest seemed to draw less and less people as the attraction of nature became less and less desirable. As you look further in, the cottage scene is corrupted with dotted factories and tall, nameless buildings that loomed, almost pretentiously, over the humble homes of the little people. Rory Langley was a normal man, about to turn twenty-eight in two months time.…

It was dark but not pitch black, there was sunlight peeking through the window, which was covered with wood that you can tell the person who placed it there was too short to reach the top part of the window. The sun had spotlighted the door as though it was destiny calling. I didn't know where I was or how I got there which drove my nerves crazy. My mouth was covered with what seemed to be 100 layers of duct tape which left my mouth tingling with the unpleasant taste. Both my hands were tied together with rope very securely behind an old wooden chair, my blood in both my hands felt as though it was trapped which caused me to feel the sensation of fireworks in them.…

The crowds gathered down Chestnut Street to celebrate my return. Well, not specifically mine, but the soldiers that made it home from the “Great War”. It was a pleasant experience against the bloodshed massacre in Europe known as WW1. The trench warfare was filled with death and sickness, but this, the bright clean faces upon the residents of Philadelphia, they were the best thing I’d seen in half a year, ever since I was deployed in in Austria-Hungary. I did noticed a few different things, besides the fact my little brother lost his first tooth and my father grew his beard out, it did seem different.…
