Our game of defend and attack moved into the Dining room, where the maid served a delectable fish dish. Before she left the room, my mother began another audacious attack. This time I excused myself from the table, stepped out onto the veranda and counted to a hundred as I gazed upon a perfect Maxwell Parrish sunset and toyed with the idea of rudely leaving. But decided against it, besides, she had not mentioned yet what it was she needed to discuss with me. Light heartily, I returned for more verbal abuse.…
A fact that I already know about the topic is that almost every teenager today will experience or has experienced cyberbullying at some point in their lives. In a way cyberbullying relates to human rights. Anyone who participates in the act of cyberbullying they have the human right to say anything they please on the internet to anyone. I am interested in this topic because I am a victim of cyberbullying. The acts of cyberbullying that I have experienced range from me ignoring it and letting it go to breaking down crying to being physically hurt.…
The time I was a mean girl– it’s a story that I’m both proud and ashamed to tell. Proud because it shows how much I’ve grown since the third grade, but ashamed because it reminds me that I was Regina George in the body of a little girl. The mess began with Gabrielle Fisher. She was everything I wasn’t. The girl was from New York and seemed exotic to everyone in my class, including myself.…
Ch1 The world has been slowly deteriorating by human activities, but nothing compares to what the Foreigners have done. It all started on September 15, 2014 at 7pm. The first attack was not noticed immediately since temperatures in Alaska during Winter has been dangerously low before, but when Florida becomes -40 degrees, questions arise. Then on October 15, 2014 at 7pm, all technology and mobile vehicle stopped working. Scientist couldn't figure out what was happening.…
I tried to be tough online. One time my friend started saying that girls are weak and other comments. So I made a picture of me jumping off a very high diving board so I can them that I was not scared. It did not work but instead i told them that it is not nice saying names like that then they stopped.…
I grew up in a Caribbean, conservative, Christian, ‘no nonsense’ household, where being Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, or Transgender (LGBT) was not only frowned upon, but unthinkable. This led to my intolerable attitude towards members of the LGBT community growing up, and a great deal of hateful speech during my years in middle school and part of high school. This changed when a friend in high school told me he was gay. I was shocked, and truthfully, I did not know what to do. At first, I did what was natural to me, which was to ignore him, but I realized that this was the wrong attitude and not Christ-like.…
1 in 4 non-heterosexual children are predicted to be bullied per year (“Gay Bullying”, 2013). Bullying among children is already a problem in schools. Now that gay and lesbian politics have become such a large part of society, the opinions and politics of life have rubbed off on children. For someone who is already fragile in their self-identity, such as someone who is trying to find out their sexual orientation or gender identity, a bully can leave lasting psychological scars and trigger the start of depression. Examples of traits and behaviors that can initiate bullying behaviors against a person are gender non-conformity and “coming out” as LGBT (“Suicidal Ideation”, 2012,…
When people are just in your ear constantly nitpicking about things you don't want to hear it gets under my skin. I truly hate criticism to a passion and I really can but can't explain why. I don't like when your parents are constantly telling you how to do better or change but telling you their way. I feel like they just don't believe in me enough to stop. They nitpick about my life and school to the way I act and who I associate myself with.…
Middle School Bully It was a normal day in middle school except that I was in a new school and I already seemed to have a bully. My twin, Diane, and I were the typical new students that were shy and didn’t really talk. We had our differences, Diane was a girly girl always dressing in girly clothes and wearing jewelry and a different headband, which was a thing that every girl was wearing back then.…
Rumors spread like nasty parasites feeding on unreliable information. The pests transfer the gossip at the speed of light, making it difficult to control. When Tito came to our school, the rumors engulfed Chesterhill High like a suffocating blanket. The halls chaotic clamor was replaced with the sinister whispers of gossip-feeding teenagers.…
You’You’re scrolling through Twitter or Facebook, and you come across a post of one saying hurtful and insulting things to another. Preferably you just scroll right past it without blinking, thinking to yourself, “There is nothing I can do,” or “Who will listen to me anyway”? Nearly everyone who goes online witnesses cyber bullying and just sits by and watches it happen. Some people might not even care, but the ones that do can really change the lives of others by doing something about it instead of watching someone being victimized by another. Something as simple as just reporting the post or telling someone about the cyberbullying could help or even save the life of the teenager or adult whose being harassed.…
