I believe that knowing the background of my culture affects the way I was raised and brought up. Growing up in a “black” home there was a lot of discipline and teaching. If you you were doing something you weren’t suppose to then your mother or father would likely get on you and tell you what not to do and how to do it the right way. This was important to my culture because discipline will really help you become a better person and then you will end up teaching your kids the same way. Also growing up “black” many of the families didn’t have a father or someone like that in their life. I for one didn’t have my father growing up so I think that having his cultural properties around didn’t give me everything I needed growing
