Personal Narrative: Creating A Comic Cover

Improved Essays
For my summative I want to create a two-part project that will include a comic book cover, and the first 2 panels that will teas what the story is about. In order to create this art piece, I will be using Mayfair paper cut in 7” by 9” s. This is because, the size imitates a common comic book size giving a real life feeling. Next I have decided to use Faber-castell and staedtler crayons as my medium. This is because it will allow me to create a neat look. I decided not to use acrylic or watercolour paint because we have not had enough practice using it in class. Firstly, for my comic cover, I will be displaying my 4 characters that I have practiced drawing in class this semester. These characters will include my self-portrait, Kanye West (caricature), …show more content…
Positioning her differently will help me show my ability to draw movement and using “stick figures” to draw cartoons. Furthermore, I will place 3 three remaining characters in the foreground allowing them to stand out from the background. When positioning the raccoon, me, and Kanye, I will place Kanye and the raccoon on either side of me to help balance the foreground. Secondly, in this project I will also be showing my ability to draw using perspective through the title itself. Instead of using “normal” 3D letters I will us perspective, to create the illusion that the letters are floating in the middle ground. Finally, for my background I will draw a brain. This will Allow me to represent my theme and tease the story I am displaying. This comic teaser will be displaying my feelings and thoughts of when I first came into cartooning through the eyes of my actual cartoons finding their place in my brain till I welcomed them into this world. Moving on, for my first 2 panels of the story I will show a close up of the four characters entering a door in my brain, this symbolizes the first time I walked into this class and I wanted to just run

I was afraid to pick Doodle up. My hand wrapped around his body and my other hand wrapped around his head, holding him up. The blood started to drip out of his mouth and onto my shirt and stained it. He was so heavy, I didn't want to drop him because he was so fragile. I stopped every couple of minute to fix him because he would start to slide down and my arms were so weak and tired.…

Comic books on the surface appear to be simple. However, beneath that surface lies much more depth than the images give off. The making of comics and how each individual scene is drawn, and laid out has much more complex workings than most readers would expect. Ella Cinders by Bill Counselman and drawn by Charles Plumb is one such example of how much depth and thinking goes into making comic strips. The strips themselves talk about the adventures of a woman named Ella.…

College is a life changing investment that prepares for life and career. The vast spectrum of knowledge, skills obtained, and experiences from a college degree more than compensates for the monetary cost of tuition. Creating art is my passion; I have always wanted to become a great artist ever since I was a child drawing on my walls and copying pictures from books. I have devoted my life to improving my talents by illustrating my own stories, practicing drawing daily, and challenging myself to earning my own money doing what I love by drawing commissions. Learning how to communicate through illustration is a valuable skill that will live with me for the rest of my life and progressing my artist career.…

I have them. You want them. The age old adage says, "if you don't use it, you'll lose it." Well, I don't really stroke my tits, pull on my nipples, or evoke Victoria's Secret power to create two magical mountains atop my ribcage. Nor have I ever squirted life giving milk from my tits into the mouth of my offspring or into the face of my unsuspecting partner.…

I was back at my parents in Houston the summer after my ill fated stint trying to make it as a sales person at a hip gallery in SoHo ended up as a complete and expensive failure; apparently it is not a good idea to talk a potential buyer out of a painting, even if the painting is pure shit, and has no sense of composition or color, especially when the gallery manager is standing a few feet away when said conversation takes place, and a girlfriend of mine from highschool, who had taken a completely different route; living the collegiate life at University of Texas, on the cheerleading squad and pledging Kappa Kappa Gamma was also home for the summer planning her wedding to the dreamy Austin native, Kip Anderson, and she desperately needed a…

    1) Creating my book trailer was like a roller coaster ride, it started out exciting and nervously and leaving you feeling of absence, in a way at the end. I would definitely say the best parts in this project were exploring the new technique of editing, stop motion and spend times with friends. In addition, since we did not have enough time to finish the book trailer in class, we have to work after school and sometimes in the weekends. By doing so, we have more time to finish the project and as well as fooling around and get to know more about each other. On the other hand, I think the worst parts were the editing and the restricted time that we have.…

A place where any outsider has to prove themselves before being welcomed with open arms, where fame or riches is not the predominant factor instead communication is the main concern. Art is such a dexterous community, with countless of people from different backgrounds, ideals or beliefs, as a result, it doesn’t belong to only one culture alone and it becomes a form of communication that can reach multiple people regardless of the language boundary that has separated men throughout time and time again. Apple Pie Fourth of July: Picture Book Analysis The picture book Apple Pie 4th of July. Written by Janet S. Wong and illustrated by Margret Chodos-Irivine, is a piece of literary work that presents itself with many important themes that any child may, at one point in their early lives, find themselves struggling with. Wong does a very excellent job of trying openly address the issue that is confliction of identity and of having to conform to societal ideals or in our protagonist’s case the idea of what it truly means to be a Chinese-American in America. This is an idea that holds an abundance of relevance in today’s current society and one that has become a present theme within children’s literature.…

In stories, such as The Wolves in the Walls and The Sandman Vol. 3: Dream Country, visuals and illustrations play an important role in conveying some of the themes and providing connections with the characters we otherwise would not have. Though they both take advantage of illustrations, the visuals of the two are very different. In The Wolves in the Walls the visuals are made up of a mix of pictures, paintings, and pen drawings. This type of visual provides us with a look into the world of the story through the perspective of the child that it follows. One of the major themes of the story is perception of reality and imagination as a child and the visuals are key in fully expressing and understanding that.…

For my media product, I chose to do a storyboard on a bristol board. I settled on the storyboard because I am more familiar with it. Additionally, with the time that I had, I would not be able to make an exceptional 3-D creation and a CD would have been difficult for me. I had to choose an important chapter in the novel, create a storyboard, and explain it’s significance. Choosing the chapter was not very difficult because all the parts in the novel were important in their own way.…

For this paper I chose to do my final critique on Ilike Merey’s graphic novel, A + E 4Ever. As I was reading this graphic novel, and others like it one question always comes to mind. How does the way that authors of graphic novels represent their illustration help complement the text, and how does the author depict time? I will argue that illustrations help to enhance the story that is being told because using visuals along with text helps the reader not only read what's going on, which allows the reader to visually see the information that the author is trying to get across to the reader and I will discuss how time can be depicted throughout graphic novels. Adding images to a reading allows the readers to appreciate the story more because…

Every person in this world has an individual creativity built within them. My individual creativity personally took me a while to uncover, I only recently unearthed my true creativity during my junior year. I express my creativity through makeup, poetry, painting, drawing and redecorating my surroundings such as my room which I like to think of as my sanctuary because it’s the only place I can disconnect myself from everything, focus on myself and reflect on my days. Makeup is my main outlet of expression since that’s the one that’s in the spotlight and is a quote on quote paraded for the public eye to see when used correctly and minimally to enhance ones beauty it makes a person look more presentable and put together. I was inspired to write…
