As I sit here and listen to "Something More" by Bonnie Dune, I can't help but appreciate the power of music so much more... The way a song can just take you to any place you want to be with whoever you want to be with, the way it can cause your mood to change in just seconds, the way it can say the things that we sometimes are afraid to say or just don't know how to say, the way it can take you back in time or maybe even hope for the future, the way it can instantaneously bring back memories of someone you may not have thought of in so long, or of those someones who are such a huge part of your life day in and day out, the way it can bring you into the arms of the…

Country music—not an average person enjoys this genre on a daily basis. Tractors, trucks and trailers don’t seem to appeal unless one is dressing up on Halloween with overalls and bucked teeth. Yet, if the stereotype could fall down from the genre itself, and the lyrics could be built up, a newfound love for country music may arise. Truthfully, the most meaningful songs derive from the mouths of country artists.…

Many people use for music for different things, from relaxation, motivation and even expression. The type, where, and when the music is performed or created all represent not only the personality of the musician but the person listening as well. Investing time to discover music that a person enjoys can tell alot about that person's personality. Personally, I listen to alot of rap or hip hop type of music although I do not specifically dislike any kind of music. I have been a fan of Kid Cudi for many years and his song titled Day ‘n’ Nite is the song I would choose to represent my personality or “identity.”…

My parents instilled in me a love for country music from a very early age. I can recall the songs of Shania Twain, Faith Hill, and Deana Carter playing through the house all of the time when I was little. December of 2010 I went to my first concert (Carrie Underwood), got my first guitar, and started to write my own songs. I aspire to write and perform music for a living, to travel across the nation and maybe even the world inspiring people and making them feel something through music. My motivation comes from three sources: the love of music, my family, and my home state of South Dakota.…
