I was not sure how the students would react with a stranger in their room. All my anxiety was put to rest when we entered the room, because the students were very relax and did not have any objective allowing me to observe their class. What I learned as Anne taught, was her relax and prepared attitude. She knew her subject matter well. She spoke to the student not at the students. She was patient when students ask questions. What was a criticism that was observed? Anne said to the other teacher in the room, before starting her teaching and couple of times as she taught, “they are so sleeping” or “they are sleeping”. I believe that because of those statements, the class was not very interactive during the lesson. Eventually one student answer a question, but the rest really did not say anything. Overall, the class seemed to be successful because all the students participated in the hands on demonstrations. After the forty minute class, Anne and I talked about the …show more content…
I was given a pin number to get on the SNAP (School Network for Absenteeism Prevention) computer system at the school. I was given the user name and password for the email system. These two items were needed, when students came in when they were sick. We had several students with headache, stomach ache, sore throat, and some who had already thrown up before they got to the office. Usually, when the students are going home, they are given a note to take to the main office and sit there to wait to be picked up. Due to so many students with the same problem, Anne kept the students in the office. She had us send information to the main office to let them know students were going home. When the parents picked the student up, she had them go outside through a different door that was closer to the nurse’s office, thus eliminating spreading of germs throughout the school. What Anne did to eliminate spreading of germs is something that I will use in the future. Before she did this, I always thought that students had to go through the main office. Other students were in the office for screening and the student with the pic line came back in the office for his infusion. Although, I observe the pic line infusion again, the plan is for me to do the infusion next week. I am looking forward to doing this. The student that came in for the screening was obese when we calculated her BMI. Anne
