Personal Narrative Conditioning Analysis

Improved Essays
When developing a goal to achieve weight loss, I would base the conditioning on a strict diet with daily exercise. At the end of the week, I would allow a cheat day for my roommate where he would only have to do light exercise followed by a reward meal. This would create an operative conditioning, where an action is followed by a positive reinforcement. In other words, it would give him something to look forward to. Each day of the week would have a set number of exercises to identify the schedule reinforcement. Planning meals ahead of time would be conditioned motivation by taking away the unhealthy foods and replacing it with healthy alternatives. At the end of the week, having the cheat day would allow a reward for the new behavior. Ultimately,

During this exercise I had a normal conversation with a close friend of mine. I set up the room in such a way that two chairs were facing each other with nothing in between us that would act as a barrier. I found it easy to sit square because this is how I often sit. I found it more difficult to have an open posture without crossing my arms, or putting my hands together, or in my lap. Instead I place my hands on my legs which seemed uncomfortable at first.…

In my modern day vanitas assemblage, I used a variety of three-dimensional objects that are representative of my ideas of life and death, and what I find most valuable in my life. To start off I used a 16x20 cardboard box lined with newsprints and black construction paper. The newsprints represent the fleeting passage of time and the idea that history and the presence of earth will continue to be documented even after I am gone. The collections of CDs assorted are albums that have resonated within me throughout various stages in my life. Music has a way of curing the soul and translating words and ideas that at times are difficult to convey.…

I believe I am a maker and a bit of a struggler. Just like a maker, I like to work on my own vehicle. I often find myself working on my own vehicle as oppose to going to a dealership. For example, I change my vehicle's oil and spark plugs when needed to. I even go the extra mile and perform more complicated task like changing oil pan gaskets.…

I, personally, have never been the best at English, but have always had pleasing grades in the courses that I have taken. I have to work very hard for the grades I have, and although they don't come easily, I seem to pull out an A. I have never been the best at grammar or punctuation, but I overcame that difficulty throughout my English courses with my teachers. I discovered in my English 2 class that I wasn't too good at reading comprehension and figured out that I needed to read sentences more than once to fully understand a sentence completely. I am pretty confident in myself when it comes to argument essays though. I seem to always do well on that type of essay.…

After a long seven-hour car ride, we were finally here, in the Upper Peninsula. Looking out the window of our truck, I knew it was truly different than the big city I grew up in. Not many kids get to experience what happened to me the summer before my second-grade year, but it definitely changed my life for the better. When we first pulled into our new driveway, I could not believe what I was seeing. I can remember seeing a little farm house with about five horses in our backyard.…

It seems the older you get the more privileges you get and the more freedom you can have to do almost whatever you want. I remember when I was in elementary school my first day of third grade, it was the day I had waited for since my first day in elementary school. Every year prior to that we had recess on the boring playground meant for the little kids. The playground had a slide smaller than a wheelchair ramp going into a building. It only had two swings that were so low to the ground you could not even do an underdog.…

I have had numerous angry spouts with my mother, over countless years. It has gotten to the point that it no longer feels like she’s close to me. Since I do care about my mom I decided to do my paper on her. Since my mom has a short temper it was rather difficult to prepare my approach because if I fail it will be a multi hour argument that accomplishes nothing but makes both parties very angry at each other. After many fails and many arguments, I found that it went well all the way up to when I get to the part where I make a request or requests.…

This article is, in my opinion, an example of how personal narrative can sometime confuse the author’s purpose. In order to frame her arguments she discussed her experiences with her family, and specifically how she was born a twin to a stillborn sister. She explains her families lack of coping and how her family effected her life, but I failed to focus on the overarching idea that she wanted to get out because of how distracting the stories from her personal life are. Instead found myself thinking that her story was strangely personal without much justification for why it was this way. While the point of her article, the balance between truth and respect, was somewhat present overall, the sections of personal narrative that she decided to include muddled it.…

This is not a good mindset to have, but it is hard to change when I am not physically seeing a change in my body when I eat unhealthy foods. I have always been a huge snacker, but I think I have gotten a lot better about it just after learning more about my body and how certain foods can affect me on the inside and how they might affect me down the road. Since heart disease and cancer are pretty big in my family, my parents and my sister and I have decided as a family that we are going to start eating healthier. This was a lot easier to do while I was at home with my family and my mom was cooking meals for us every night, but I find it so much harder and almost impossible while I am at school and making my own decisions. Between the fact that I am a busy college student, I don’t have the money to buy healthy foods, and I rely on the cafeteria for many of my meals, it becomes a real challenge to stick with this diet that I started at home with my family.…
