When developing a goal to achieve weight loss, I would base the conditioning on a strict diet with daily exercise. At the end of the week, I would allow a cheat day for my roommate where he would only have to do light exercise followed by a reward meal. This would create an operative conditioning, where an action is followed by a positive reinforcement. In other words, it would give him something to look forward to. Each day of the week would have a set number of exercises to identify the schedule reinforcement. Planning meals ahead of time would be conditioned motivation by taking away the unhealthy foods and replacing it with healthy alternatives.
