Commit Yourself
Do you know what the Super Bowl XLVIII looked like? Yea, that’s what happened on my first day of wrestling. It was a downwards slop. My mom had recommended that I do it because my brother had just started to wrestle too. Since he was younger than me, he got to go to the beginner’s class. I on the other hand had to go to the middle school class. Now don’t let the words “middle school” deceive you. Back then I was 4’8 and weighed 80 pounds so I was relatively small. Eventually, after a few months, it was more of a competition between me and the other kids. I could actually last a few minutes. This is when I started to realize that the more time you put into something, the more you’ll get out of it. But I still wasn’t completely sold on the idea. More and more time went on. Eventually I could beat some of the kids that I couldn’t beat before. After about six or so months of training I had decided to go to my first wrestling tournament. At the time I had thought that I was pretty good at wrestling, but boy was I wrong. My first match was against a kid named Evan. A few minutes in I ended up getting pinned. My second match I actually won 8-1 and my final match I lost 8-0. So yea I was pretty bad. But I was making progress. Fast forward a few years, and I have done over twenty tournaments with over a hundred matches. I have placed at state many times and have won a few tournaments as well. Over these years I have trained very hard. Something that I had not done back when I played soccer and basketball. This story in my life has helped me realize that if you want to be good at something then you must really commit yourself to

Do you ever think about the sport you’re really good at, and like doing, then get injured so you couldn’t do it anymore? Neither did I until it happened before wrestling practice as we were warming up when I broke my collarbone. This all started the day after Thanksgiving at wrestling practice. We were warming up playing basketball and if someone didn’t make it you had to start sprinting for the ball.…

Sports teams are made up of those with natural born and learned talent. My talent was learned, although, some have said I was born a natural athlete. An infielder and coach devoting a huge portion of his life to major league baseball, Don Zimmer, once said, “What you lack in talent can be made up with desire, hustle, and giving 110 percent all the time.” The story of how I fell in love with the game of softball is a story like no other.…

Bowling is Everything Bowling is my whole life. As I grew up I spent a countless number of hours in a bowling alley listening to the pins fall as the ball gently taps the pocket. I watched people who are passionate about bowling struggling or not with life who get out there and do what they love. As the years went on I grew to become more fascinated with the idea of bowling. So finally, I worked up enough nerve to talk to my mother about enrolling me into the Saturday morning kids league.…

An old maroon rubber mat covered the entire floor, just as dirt covered all the windows. I put my wrestling shoes on and started practice.
