College Admissions Essay Mrs. McLaughlin

I can prove that “children learn more from who you are than what you teach.” When teaching young children young you have to be fun but also be a model for young children. I find it amazing when children interact with adults since they act like we have known each other for a very long time. One day after school Kaylee and I were in the dining room at my house, and she began telling me a story about what they did in gym class and she

During the centers I’ve done i also have to keep the children interested since their attention span only last for seven to ten minutes. Another responsibility I was given during both of my internships was walking the children to and from lunch and I would also open food or other miscellaneous items. There was a day in the begin of December I was walking back from lunch with a boy named carter, and he began telling me that he could turn into a ninja and launch up the stairs we were walking past.” As someone that the children look up to, we have to think to ourselves for a minute before responding to the child, so that we don’t ruin the their imagination. Instead of always working with the children, sometimes I’d do prep work for the teachers. Most of the time I would write the children’s names on the back of work they had already done. Other times I would cut out patterns for the next activity they would be doing. The amount of times the children would ask what I was doing was funny because I could recite the activity name in my sleep. Then there are the children who will come see me no matter where I am, there is a girl named Aubree “ who came running out of nowhere in the grocery store just to say hi and give me a hug.” This is the best feeling ever since children see so many people daily. As a normal person everyone has their own kind of off day and the way

Child-initiated activity hands practitioners a very powerful opportunity for learning. To make the most of this, as a practitioner you must: * maintain children's focus - actively using a range of strategies to keep the children engaged and extend their learning - introducing new words, thinking out loud, introducing more complex speech, bringing in new problems, encouraging conflict negotiation, demonstrating or explaining new ways of working towards a solution * offer assistance and support, when needed, so children are successful in following their ideas, even something simple like holding an object while a child works * ensure the learning environment offers a wide range of stimulating open-ended materials, both outdoors and indoors, for…

During the college search process, I've learned that I am a take-charge person. Before applying to college I did not have an older sibling or parent telling me what to do, therefore I had to figure everything out myself; which included family trips to visit colleges, the application process, and countless meetings that I made with my counselor to make sure I was on track. A personal tradition that my family has is that every Sunday morning my father cooks all of us pancakes and we sit and eat together before we go to church. Although having pancakes every week may seem like it would get old, it has the opposite effect, and I look forward to the quality time with my family every week.…

One four year old boy made an impression on me because he was quiet and shy, but very intelligent. He needed to focus on arm strength and fine motor skills. Activities that Susan set up for him consisted of laying on his stomach and pushing himself on a scooter while grabbing puzzle pieces to solve a puzzle, cutting different lines out of paper and finding and finding beads to pick out of putty. Each child had their own areas that needed to be worked on and watching Susan with the children and how she made it appear so fun for the children made me realize that this profession truly focuses on helping every individual while being an enjoyable…

The children have been responding really well to all the different activities that we have been doing over the past few weeks and I have been learning along the way.…
