Cicadas Camp Cornhusker, ‘the happiest place on earth’ as many people call it, including myself. There is so much to see and do, hiking in the thick bristled woods to hear the water crash at Angel's or Devil’s falls, to canoe at Lake Abel where the breeze gives a sense of freedom, and to be around a crazy group of staff members. Once I made a complete lap, I looked ahead of myself to see that even more cicadas lay where I previously picked them up from the fire hot cement. This time, unlike my first trip around the pool, the campers in the pool began to add to the pot by placing the cicadas whom swarmed the pool into the large container. So it finally snowed! I’m happy that it finally did and I built a snowman during the storm and it looks kind of…squared you could say. Since the snow is heavy, more of the leaves are now fallen off and it’s starting to look like winter. Today I went to my grandparents’ house to spend the few nights until thanksgiving. While driving out there, the corn fields and the bean fields were all covered with snow, you could tell that the deer were out and about since you could clearly see the footprints in the snow.…

I remembered walking on San Bruno Mountain as a six year old and seeing small, fuzzy blue butterflies fluttering in the spring afternoon. I thought about how lovely they were, and each year I looked forward to seeing them. However, as each year passed, I saw less and less butterflies. As awful as it was, I felt there had to be something I could do. It wasn’t until The Golden Gate Park Stewardship program gave me that opportunity.…

As I look up at the sky, which is blood red like the sun stabbed it so it could get away from its eternal partner,I begin to hear the horrible noises of these sky creatures. Their horrible squealing draws everything's attention because it sounds the an incantation to summon the devil from the pits of the underworld. The howling wind joins in trying to make the summoning happening quicker but instead it makes me feel like my ears are going to bleed and starts to cast a sleeping spell on anyone caught in this siren song. The trees become alive to this bewitching tunes as their rodent inhabitants begin to run around trying to attack one another like wolves attacking a deer. Next door the neighbor’s rowdy brats come outside, probably because this is their favorite tune, with their wild and atrocious dog to play game of run around and destroy the yard or as most call it fetch.…
