I have travelled to many places in my life but my fondest memory is when I lived in Manhattan, Kansas, my fifth grade year. I was President of our school's “Environmental Club”. We went around the community to clean our public parks, the sides of the roads, and other public places. In addition, we had the opportunity to plant flowers in front of our public library. Including all of this, we each had our own special garden on school grounds that we were responsible for keeping alive and healthy. Being in touch with nature and giving back to my community was the best experience of my life. It is nothing compared to Chris McCandless journey or what he did, but it is my most joyful experience.
