Personal Narrative: Childhood Observation

My shiny pink rain boots sent drops of muddy water soaring through the air as I splashed along the dirt road. I jumped from puddle to puddle, excitedly following Wendy, the woman in charge of camp. It was my first day at Barnyard Bonanza: a summer camp for kids between the ages of six and twelve that gave them the chance to spend time on a farm. As an animal-obsessed eight year old, this camp was a dream come true. I’d practically begged Wendy to let me clean out a horse stall, and I could have watched the chickens strut around their pen for hours. Now I was about to visit the pigs, and I could hardly wait.

He and a few of his friends immediately hopped over the fence into the enclosure.
‘And, if you want, I can bring one of the bunnies out.” Said Wendy.
“Yes!” squealed one of the girls. “I love bunnies!”
“Alright,” said Wendy, heading over the cage and pulling out a fluffy brown rabbit, “but you have to be quiet and gentle. He gets nervous around—“

It was one of the most ridiculous things I had ever seen in my entire eight years of life.
“He won’t hurt you!” called Wendy, struggling to calm the startled rabbit. “I’ll come in there and distract him.”
“I can do it!” I said eagerly. I raced over to the pen, hopped over the fence, and watched as Romeo trotted over to me.
“See?” I said to the boys, reaching out to pet the pig’s mud-splattered head. “There’s nothing to be scared

In society, each person plays a vital role and serves a great importance. When abused or belittled, these roles can turn into scourges. This concept is delineated in William Golding's novel, Lord of the Flies. After their plane crashes on a deserted island, a group of schoolboys attempt to create a functional and organized society whilst being forced to cope with the fact that there are no adults amongst them. Consequently, conflict and savagery emerge, leaving the boys with designated ranks consisting of varying levels of respect.…

Her innocent, baby blue eyes stare up at me as she begs for forgiveness. Tears stream down her face, carving their path and leaving long stains on her cheeks. In her hands, the young girl holds the last piece of the puzzle: a dead rabbit. For the spell to work, the animal has to be alive. All hope is lost, and I know the girl is aware of that, for she weeps as she glances down at the bunny that lays limp in her delicate hands, staining her clothes crimson red.…

Walking into the lecture hall, I felt rather small. All of the other competitors shuffled around the room with their paraphernalia, marking their territory. My eyes wandered around, searching for a seat as I lingered down the stairs to the front of the room until I finally found a lone seat in the center of the room, waiting for me. Making my way back to the chair, I peered around the room once more, but this time, taking note of the other students. I found myself to be the minority, what my coach would later refer to me as "a brown drop in a sea of white faces".…
