And I didn't know it was the worst until I had Mrs. Halstead’s class. And let me tell you it basically made me feel like a wolf in sheep’s clothing. Because what she talked about often was surrounded by the Catholic’s teachings on abstinence, sexuality, abortion, euthanasia, etc. and with sexuality comes talk about homosexuality. And considering I was still trying to figure out if I really was gay, the discussion surrounding how people in the LGBTQ community are mentally ill and are committing a sin didn't help. And at times it really got to me and I would even go to the bathroom crying. But to me the worst part was this year during my 8th grade year. A few weeks ago homosexuality was once again brought up and I had found that just tuning it out was probably my best bet so that's what I did. But this time something she said got my attention. She told us the story of how her bestfriend from school was gay and how she (Mrs. Halstead) dealt with it, being a practicing catholic and all. But what shocked me and even the rest of the class is that when Mrs. Halstead found out that her friend was getting engaged and was invited to her wedding, she didn't even go due to her catholic beliefs. And that got to me just because right now most of my friends are catholic and I of course want them to be at my wedding. So hearing that just broke something in
