Personal Narrative: Child Memories And Memories Of Childhood

Superior Essays
One of my most vivid childhood memories was when I was ten years old and my parents did something that we still talk about this day. I can still remember the smell of breakfast as I woke up that morning knowing that it was going to be a long day because we were driving to, rather than just flying South Carolina, to watch my oldest brother graduate. My younger brother turned on the lights so that he could see around the room that we both shared causing me to wake up and not fall back to sleep. As I laid there in my bed smelling bacon and coffee from downstairs I remember thinking that it was way too early for anyone to be awake. It was 8 in the morning and now that I look back on it 8 in the morning is not that bad and I wish I could still wake …show more content…
I was passing out and there was nothing I could do to stay awake the rest of the road trip. I remember waking up to my dad carrying me to the back seat and then passing out. I woke up to my younger brother and sister being loud talking about Disney world. As I looked up there was signs everywhere about Disney world. We drove to the hotel first and when we stepped out of the van the heat and humidity hit me hard. I was breathing in hot, moist air thinking how could people lived like this. As we unpacked and got ready to go to Disney world I looked at my older brother who told me he was too old to be going to Disney world and that he was too cool for it. He was dragged along and told he was in charge and he would have to take care of me and my younger brother. When we got to the front entrance I remember seeing Disney stuff everywhere I remember thinking this is the best day of my life. We were all glued to windows looking out and pointing out every little thing we saw. As soon as we got in my parents bought us all Mickey Mouse ears even my older brother who refused to wear it for the first few hours till he saw other people his age wearing them. I remember seeing all the different size Mickey Mouse shaped items, from bushes shaped like mickey to stone tiles and doors. My and my younger siblings took off running touching everything and pointing out everything. We could not contain our excitement. My parents would later tell us that

After two hours of singing and laughing in the car, I got tired and slept. My dad thought it would be funny if he blasted music to wake all of us up, of course, I was startled and woke up instantly. We got out of the car and it was almost four in the afternoon. I saw a kubo, which is a small cottage, and the beach few miles further, it was absolutely stunning. We all went inside and unpacked our luggages.…

It was one of those days. The kind of day that was so hot, no one would want to leave their air conditioned homes, not even to go to work. But on those kinds of days, my family and I would decide to go on a trip. My brothers, Andrew and Alex, and I begged and begged my parents to take us to six flags basically ever since we could talk, and in the summer of 2004, they couldn’t take it anymore and packed us into the tan Ford Windstar started on our day trip to Six Flags. I was so excited I felt like I was going to actually explode, and I probably would have since my excitement had to be bottled up for the 2 and a half hour ride it took to get to the park.…

My trip would begin with my husband coming home, bursting into my room like someone’s behind him with a chainsaw, waving plane tickets and yelling “Honey grab your things because we’re going to Hawaii”. Before he could say when we were going I’d already made mental notes of who would watch the kids and our family dog King. I didn’t need much time to figure out what to wear or if I needed to pack light or heavy. My mind racing, with ideas of how much fun this is going to be, I jumped up off of the bed and begin packing my luggage as well as the kids’. It’s been 3 years since our last trip so there’s no way I was…

I never in my whole life thought my parents would let me fly by myself. We were in the car driving to the airport, which is two hours away from my house and that is a pain when you have two twin seven year old brothers Johnny and Jose screaming in both of your ears. I was going to Charlotte, North Carolina to visit my aunt. My dad has to stay and keep guard on my mom because she has brain cancer and my brothers are “too little to travel” not that I want them to go anyway, man that would be a pain. “Man that’s a Monster plane” my dad said, and Johnny climbed over me to see which hurt my legs like crazy!…
