Personal Narrative: Chick-Fil-A

My journey at Chick-fil-A began the of fall of last year, soon after I turned sixteen. I wanted to work at Fairfield Coffee as a barista, but due to my age, I could not even receive an application. Jobs at Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts seemed to be my next best option; but, Starbucks’ supervisor and I were in a serious game of phone tag and Dunkin Donuts never responded to any of my calls. So, after tiring of being ignored, I applied for a closing position at Chick-fil-A.

Previous to working at Chick-fil-A, I had spent my summer attending Harvard University’s Secondary School Program, a seven-week college immersion program where I made lifelong friendships, fell in love with my professors, and experienced true college moments like staying up late talking with my roommate only to wake up again at four in the morning to finish writing a paper for my Intro to Sociology class. While studying at Harvard I also discovered people who have a passion for what they were doing and learning. Christopher Queen, one of the most passionate professors I met while studying

After gaining my new position, I could learn the principles and fundamental values that establish the positive environment that Chick-fil-A is notorious for. One biblical principle essential to every transaction taken at Chick-fil-A is Second Mile Service. The three acts of mandatory Second Mile Services include taking large orders to the guest cars, helping high needs guest, and completing table touch ins. When done, Second Mile Service can enrich the lives of strangers. As a teenager employed by Christian values, I could see the impact strangers can have in each other lives by completing simple tasks such as speaking with a smile, refreshing beverages, or remembering a frequent guest name can touch the hearts of

Chic Fil A is one of the largest chain restaurants in the united states. Yet it seems to have no marketing when compared to its competitors. Often you can hear McDonald's jingles on the radio and see a new commercial on television for a new burger from Burger king, yet the same cannot be said for Chick Fil A where sometimes their advertisements seem uncommon if not non existent. How come a company that went from sales of 1 billion dollars in 2000 to 6 billion in 2015, seem to have barely any marketing?…

My first memory at North Carolina Governor’s School West is of crying next to my parents on a bench under a giant tree. It was move-in day for the five-and-a-half-week session, and I was already sure that they would be the worst weeks of my life. I was terrified; I knew no one except two students from my high school, who were rising juniors and to whom I had never spoken before. After that stressful first day, I fell asleep unsure of how I could make it on my own in a place filled with such talented, intelligent, and unfamiliar people. A week later, I knew that Governor’s School would be one of the most treasured experiences of my entire life.…

There are multiple great fast food chains around the world. But one of my favorite places has to be Chick-fil-a. Chick-fil-a is a fast food chain that sells food only with chicken. They are mostly known for their cow mascot that has the famous catchphrase “Eat more chicken.” The main reason I like their restaurant is because their restaurant tends to have more of a placid atmosphere than the other fast food chains. They also make their employees be kind and tend to the customers' needs.…

I would visit Applebee’s again for several reasons; it is affordable, causal, and the food is really good. As a college student, the first thing that I consider before eating out is how affordable the place is. Compared to Olive Garden, I would say that this restaurant is a lot less formal, less costly, and a lower food quality. Overall, my experience was fun and enjoying because I felt relaxed sitting, laughing, and eating with my friends. When come back next time, I may try a dessert.…

Governor’s School Last summer, I attended governor's school west where three hundred and twenty-five bright and open-minded students from all across North Carolina gathered for five and a half weeks in a college campus setting. To me, this was a big milestone in life that changed me for the better. We left our cozy lives of families and friends to start with a clean slate with strangers we’ve never seen in our lives. At first, we thought of it as a sacrifice of our summer to glamorize our college application, but throughout the program we experienced things that exceeded beyond our expectations.…

The Trip to the Grocery Store I haven’t seen him in weeks or maybe even months, I thought as I glared across the small distance between where I was standing and my dad’s car. With my One Direction CD clutched in my hands, I started to close the distance by walking towards his car. I opened the door and slipped in, and then he started to drive to the grocery store.
