Personal Narrative-Changing Game Of My Life

For all four years of my high school career I was a member of the men's varsity soccer team. It was during my junior year that I experienced what would turn out to be the most embarrassing soccer game of my life. We drove across our city to our rival high school's field. This was one of our biggest games of the entire season. Year after year, we always lost our winning streak to ECC. They were the catholic school in our area, and they always thought they were better than us in everything. This soccer game would be our school's chance to turn things around and challenge them.

I was in the back of our formation, as I usually was. My regular positon was a defensemen. Our entire team put in their maximum effort during the game. The boys team was really low on players that season of soccer. Which left everyone exhausted on the field, for there where only two other people to substitute in when a player was tired.

After forty minutes, we finally got a break. It was halftime. We refreshed ourselves, then went right back into the game and played our hearts out. It then came down to the last ten minutes of the game and we were still at a standstill. Neither team had scored yet, but then one of our players then kicked the ball out of bounds. And it was the other teams ability to take a corner kick and take that opportunity to score. That is just what they did... with my aid. The ball was kicked into play and whizzed right towards me, then it bounced off of my thigh and into our own goal.

I was so disappointed and felt as if I let the team down. But I went back in to the last nine minutes of the game trying to recover from my mistake. It was no use; we still lost the game. However, now looking back at this moment its quite humorous, for it was the first and only time I scored a goal during my entire soccer career in high
