Personal Narrative-Changing Experience In American Football

It was a nice sunny afternoon. We had gotten the news that the weather wasn’t going to be good. Our bus ride was more calm than usual as I didn’t hear much talking. I guess we were a little excited we were going to play on turf. I personally didn’t really care about the turf but I was concerned, about the fact, we were going to play older players. Coach gave us a heads up to play our hardest.
Only five minutes into the ride and I was getting the nerves I always got. It felt like someone was twirling something in my stomach. Feeling as nervous as I was, I was very excited. Two hours have passed and we were finally at Vinton-Shellsburg. Passing across the field, I really had a different perspective on the field. It looked amazing. It had no mud, no faded lines, just a stunning football field. Once we were dropped off, we headed straight to the locker room. Walking to the locker room I could notice it was still quiet. Usually, we would be talking in the locker room but this time it was different. No one said a word. We dressed to play and that was our only mindset. Our team was patiently waiting to walk to the football field.
Coach finally had said, “Alright let's start walking down to the field.”

I knew I was going to play a lot of the game because one of our players was sick. Feeling confident, we stepped onto the field. The turf was much different than I expected. It had rubber on it. It felt really soft and felt like you could run 10 times faster. The first thing we do before a game is warm up. I was the long snapper for our team, so first I was long snapping to my punter. I already noticed it was much easier to do movements on the field. Once I was done long snapping I went to the catch and throw line. Wow, I felt so much faster.
