Personal Narrative: Center Stage

Center stage, everyone’s watching, one spotlight, the music starts, and you dance your heart out because you never know if this will be the last dance you will ever do. Well for me, that's exactly what happened. I sat in the waiting room, I heard my name called out. The doctor appeared and she examined my ankle. As she spoke to my mother, my head swirled with thoughts. Finally, the doctor began to explain what was going to happen.
It was sunny, beautiful morning when my mom woke me. I growled at the alarm as I realized that today was the dance competition, I sprung up to my feet and went to go get ready. I changed from my soft pajamas to instead, a white tank top and a blue flannel with yoga pants. As soon as I changed, it was time for hair and makeup. My mom had to put up my hair into a tight bun which made me scream. I then did my make up by myself, and went downstairs to go practice. Everyone crowded around to see what place they had gotten. I thought I would be at the bottom, but I didn’t see my name there. I scrolled up to the top of the page until I found my name at the top of the list! I was surprised, and so happy that I felt like screaming at the top of my lungs in excitement! I went to go thank the judges and I went back to my seat as they awarded trophies. When they announced my name, I stood up, walked to the stage. When I saw the trophy, I felt like I was about to faint! The trophy was huge! It was a 3 foot trophy! When I held it, it was extremely heavy! A few people helped me hold it as the photographer took a picture. On the trophy it said “Faith Puthenpurakal is awarded the top dancer award.” As I brought the gigantic trophy to my seat my mom gave me a huge hug and we went
