Personal Narrative: Car Ride

Decent Essays
When I ride it's like the earth stops at every corner so I can check to make sure a, loud, car isn't roaring towards me. It's like that feeling in your chest that tells you that everything is going to be ok, yet your mind is screaming at you that it won't be. I ride because I was thought that you need to be active in life, but it was never about the one hour of activity time we are supposed to have growing up. it was much more than that. I didn't need help to ride, I needed help to face down my enemies, or conquer my dreams. But I definitely don't need help to force my two legs to move back and forth with such a momentum that my 2 wheels wobbled underneath my narrow, strong, body. That squeak because who really need brakes to work properly,

On a beautiful clear morning of February the 19th, my mom picked me up from my class at the University of West Georgia, then we went to Waffle House to have a nice breakfast. We left from Waffle House, proceeding down Maple Street, and turned onto South Street and immediately onto Kenner Street. We then turned onto on the merging lane on South Park Street (US Hwy 27) heading south, we immediately halted to a full stop as vehicles moved from the middle lane into the merging lane in front of us, but at that time there were no vehicles behind us. As we waited to enter traffic, a car suddenly struck us from behind which caused the car to jerk violently forward, causing my mother’s chest to hit the steering wheel, and our heads and bodies to whip forward and then back.…

I first realized I was in foreign territory when I witnessed my boss take a drag of a marijuana joint, take a shot of whiskey and walk out of the bar with a girl he had just met at our show. Suddenly, I was thrust into a world I had never experienced before. I was merely a boy surrounded by middle-aged men, who were seasoned veterans in the field of musical touring. The closest person to myself in age was 10 years my elder. I had not known the hardships I would soon be witnessing while out on the road.…

I’m 17 and I have no idea what I want to do with my life; I thought to myself as I looked at a list of colleges near Detroit, Michigan. I slammed the book shut and grabbed my backpack and returned the book to its shelf. Enough college searching for one day, though I knew my mother was only going to nag me about it when I went home. I walked out of the high school with pep in my step until I remembered what I had to drive. I walked up to my ’72 blue Skylark and said a silent prayer to myself that I would at least make it home today with this sad excuse for a car.…

I am haunted by the wail’s of one of the drivers realising there friend beside them is no longer alive, the blood trickling onto the road and seeing regret written across the drivers faces. I have always put others needs above my own, so I though it was my calling to be a nurse. I’ve worked at the hospital for almost a year now, and I have recently been asked to work as a paramedic in an ambulance. It’s my first day on the ambulance and I am ecstatic, I love the smell of the freshly cleaned car.…

It was an ordinary day, as my family and I were heading to Medicine Lake in my dad’s car. I was watching Mobile Suit Gundam on my Zune, when my mom said, “What’s that under that car?” We looked at the car ahead of us and saw something sparkling underneath it. But my dad realized, as he looked closely, that the sparkling was produced by flames, coming from the underside of the car! My dad opened the car window and shouted and honked his horn at the driver of the flaming car to pull over.…

When I started Driving Ben Franklin quotes, “Tell me and I will forget, teach me and I will remember, involve me and I will learn.” Have you ever felt so nervous about something that you feel like you cannot do it? I felt this way when I started to practice driving for the first time. When I turned fifteen years old, I was able to go to the BMV to take my permit test and if I passed, I could start to practice driving. I was pretty nervous whether or not I was going to pass or not.…

My first car was something that I greatly was looking forward to getting as a child and my interest in getting one grew, as the days got closer to my sixteenth birthday. The first car I owned was a Automatic Black 2004 Ford f-150 truck, which I discovered on a website called Craigslist. It was priced at five thousand nine hundred dollars with only eighty-four thousand miles on it, which in my case was great considering that I could only afford a seven thousand dollar car. The truck came with all manual locks and windows and also had a small amount of hail damage that could really only be seen at a certain angle. But even with reasonable price on the truck I still attempted to negotiate for an even lower price to further my luck.…

Throughout life everyone is faced with challenging obstacles that they have to overcome, sadly I learned this for myself sooner than most. In October of 2012 I became a licensed driver in the state of Virginia. I was your typical sixteen year old boy with plans on taking road trips, modifying my car to increase its performance, and planning on never riding the school bus again. In three short months my world was turned upside down and I never thought it would be right again.…

Throughout my first year of driving, I have had anything but a traditional, safe experience behind the wheel of my 2-ton car. It seems like anytime I get behind the wheel of a car, something somewhere in the universe decides to test me once again. However, despite being a firsthand witness to my awful luck, I also astonish myself every time I experience these situations with how I handle and learn from them. This is one of those times. After having my license for about 8 months, you would think I had possessed the knowledge of how to not endanger myself when driving a car.…

"Ring!" sounded the final bell on a Friday afternoon at school. Students sprinted out of class to get to their cars trying to beat the rush of traffic; I was one of them. I stopped by my locker to grab all of my books and then hurried out to my shiny gold Toyota Camry. I quickly put my key into the ignition and backed out of my parking spot. I stepped on the gas pedal to beat all of the idiot drivers that don 't know how to wait their turn.…
