Personal Narrative: Canton Swim And Diverse Team

Ever since I was in the seventh grade, I have wanted to lose weight pretty badly. When in eighth grade I did not take a lot of action to achieve this. I was encouraged by family and friends to join the swim team. At first I was hesitant because I had not played a sport in eight years. I did not believe I was athletically capable of keeping up with the Canton Swim and Dive team. I did a few workouts to start getting a boost. Once the first day of practice came, I was easily the slowest one on the team. Most of the people in my lane could outlap me and I was often the last one to finish the workout set. However, as the days went on I began to notice fat dissolving off of my body. My coaches encouraged me to keep on trying and I was getting better slowly but surely. …show more content…
When the season began I was 230 pounds at the time, so there was much work to be done if I wanted to reach my goal of 180 pounds. The season went well and by the end I reached 200 pounds. I continued working out in the off season to maintain my progress.
Junior year came and I was ready to continue my campaign for a healthier body. As I swam this year, my teammates commended me on how slim I had begun to look. I was then able to buy clothes that were smaller and I looked like I had a healthy body. When I weighed myself at the end of my third season in February 2017, I weighed 190 pounds. I was closer to my goal than ever. Whenever a friend is concerned that they are overweight or need to workout, I will always recommend they join a swim team to, in hopes, get the same experience I
