Humiliated. Depressed. Bullied. These are just some of the thoughts that come to my mind when the words "middle school" are uttered. My middle school experience not only affected me emotionally, but also deeply affected my personal life. I would attend school scared and frightened, not knowing who was going to bully me or speak to me in an unpleasant way each day. I went on three years with my life like this. I never bothered to tell my parents what was happening at school because my grades were excellent so they never expected anything. In reality I would go home and cry at night when everyone was asleep. I never really understood the reason why people teased and bullied me, I just knew I had to suffer with the emotional pain for three long years. I tried standing up for myself …show more content…
I decided to go to a completely new school away from all the pain. Once I started attending I could instantly tell life was going to be a lot different but for the better. I was no longer being humiliated or bullied. I was actually at the top of my class with an excellent reputation at the school along with outstanding grades. My past experience pushed me to be great in my future and I did so by soon being called a leader at my school and being looked up to as a role model. I would always begin the day by telling myself I would do everything in my power to make the day a positive one. Being recognized as a leader wasn’t easy but I was determined to be a much greater person than I once was. I did all I possibly could in my power in order to exceed in my high school career and I believe I have accomplished that. I have come a long way from where I was just years prior to now being ASB President, President for my school’s HOSA (Future Health Professionals) chapter, athlete, and a school leader that new & incoming students can look up

Middle school was hard for me not because of the awkward phases everyone goes through during that time, although I did have a fair share of those, it was because during that time I was bullied by my parents to act more feminine and appropriate to my gender. Growing up with mostly boys as my playmates I didn’t turn out as feminine as society would’ve liked, don’t get me wrong I did like wearing dresses and playing with baby dolls form time to time however my family seemed to find a problem with my behavior, I didn’t act appropriately as a female, according to them at least. I would run around with my friends playing in the dirty streets instead of helping my mother in the kitchen or sitting idly during family gatherings. This continued until…

“You won’t amount to anything…you’re too small…you can compete with us”. For my whole life I have been hearing those words from my peers to adults, coaches and the list goes on. During my school career it was a breeze until I got to middle school. Once I hit the sixth grade the name calling and constant judging from the seventh and eighth graders started. However, what really struck me with disbelief was how my “friends” started to treat me, as if joining in on the banter was “cool” and did it to fit in with the older/cooler kids.…
