For my sixty hours of volunteer work I decided to volunteer at a Child Life Center which was in a poverty stricken area in Norfolk, Va. At the child life center my job as a volunteer was to assist the children with their homework, help the staff monitor the children on local field trips, as well as serve as a positive role model for the children. The experience I had at Park Place Child Life Center was one I will honestly never forget. Although I didn’t get any actual counseling experience, I was able to learn the ways that the non-profit organization received their funding, I was able to gain experience in working with the youth, and I was also able to make a positive impact on the lives of children who were considered “at-risk youth”. To go there every day and be able to see the change the children had in their behaviors and how much just some attention and affection from adults impacted their behaviors was honestly amazing.…
As I stopped in different middle schools and different high schools I realize that the need was different. Many kids were coming up to me for questions and advice on what to do after they get out of high school where to go. I even decided to work for a Juve center for a couple weeks so I can help the community and give back to the community. And when I learn about these children of different backgrounds they said they were very capable but they all needed a sense of direction and guidance. A lot of the girls needed a big sister or mother they can trust or an auntie.…
Wicked I went to Wicked. It was just me and my mom. We did not go to New York but we did go to the Aronoff theater. It was amazing, we had a blast! We went up one floor and got my picture in front of a poster of the two witches: Elphaba and Galinda. After that, we went to our seats in the balcony, in the second row.…

My First Shot The air was empty but the pond was full. We sneak through the trees to get to the pond. We get there to realize that the gamble we took didn't pay off. Since we got there about thirty minutes before shoot time we waited. That was the slowest 30 minutes ever.…
Iclesias Phanord Breaking the Norm I’m surrounded by bouncing basketball and expectations. I had not yet found my vocation. However, many people around me had; whether it was basketball, cheerleading, or track - they had found a purpose that drove them. I did not have anything that I was truly passionate about but when I began playing volleyball, I discovered it and I fell in love with the intensity that came when I touched a volleyball.…
During the PAL orientation meeting I learned that PAL wasn’t just about mentoring children at local elementary schools but also providing service to the community. I decided to volunteer at the local women shelter called Women In Need in my free time. Some days I would volunteer in the office, stuffing folders while other days I would work in childcare taking care of children while their parents were away. One day in particular, I was in charge of childcare one afternoon. There were about five children; one of these children stood out to me.…

Good afternoon Angela, I received a call from a gentleman named Bruce who stated he transferred his status to Inactive back in January of 2017. He wants to know if someone can call him at 775-826-8494 to let him know if it’s ok for him to close his current Trust-IOLTA account since he is no longer practicing as an Active attorney. If this is for you if so can you return his call? Please let me know.…
My experience with the after school book club at Madison Elementary today was an exciting yet my patience was tested by a seven year old little boy named Jose. Today I was excited to see if my group would enjoy the book, “Where the Wild Things Are,” due to the fact everyone agreed they enjoy reading adventure books. Consequently, one of my group members, Jose, had already read the book and watched the movie and let the whole group know it was “boring.” Already bored he instantly lost interest in the book and the group and was making it known by distracting the other group members around him. Usually his partner in crime, Gilbert, agrees with him and goes along with him but this time was different and he ignored his friend because he was actually…
Faith is the belief in something greater than us one can put full trust, confidence, and reliance on when difficult times arise. I was raised to be involved with church activities to maintain my spiritual life; additionally my faith grew dramatically when my cousin deceased and gave me an overview of what I wanted to pursue my career as. When I was a child, my parents encouraged me to always be as loving and caring as I could be, not for personal gain, but to be benevolent to the people around me. I was raised with two loving parents, Mario and Rebeca, along with a younger brother, Mario and older sister, Ana.…
On Wednesday July 8th, I engaged in something that I never necessarily would have done before, I purposely brought attention to myself. I engaged in breaking a social norm and called attention to my behavior, and by extension my appearance. I allowed myself to become the focus of someone’s attention because of my blatant disregard of the social norms that have been set up within our society. Alongside with my partner, Andrea Armengol, we quietly and stealthily entered an elevator in the Miami Regional Dialysis Center building at Jackson North Hospital at around 1 o’clock in the afternoon. There was an array of people whom my partner and I encountered inside of the elevator, one of the youngest unknowing participant in our experiment could…
Becoming a teacher or mentor to kids is something that I’ve always wanted to do. That’s why in the year 2016, I volunteered. After many meetings and a lot of waiting, camp finally came. I had my chance to give back to the church.…
Last winter, my grandmother got breast cancer. This took a hard toll on my whole family. The doctors said that she was only in stage 2 and that it would be cured with radiation. My grandmother had to go to radiation everyday, 5 days a week. This was extremely difficult on my family.…
A few years ago I remember walking home from school. Mind you I thought I was very handsome back in those days, I had soft, dark brown hair, I went to the gym every day, I was fit and healthy, personally I thought I was a ladies man and I still am (I think). Anyways, I was almost home…
