Personal Narrative: Brice's Vacation

Have you ever been to a drug controlled foreign region? If yes, have you ever been in a corrupt police station in that region? Can you imagine the feeling you go through trying to explain yourself to such corrupted, barely speaking English, money hungry individuals? I did, with my other two buddies, Sal and Brice. It was supposed to be a great vacation, a cup empty from disappointment and drama, and filled with joy and laughter. But that wasn’t the case, at least for part of the trip. My girlfriend, Yanica, and I decided to go to Cancun, Mexico, and tag along our friends, Sal and Kimberly, Brice and Saba, who happen to be two couples who crave for adventure. I have been to Cancun four times already, and can’t just get enough. As i remember, this place has one of the best beaches. A beach surrounded by the warm waters of the caribbean sea. despite the hot sun shooting its heat at your skin, yet the cool sands make this experience cooler. The locals call it “air conditioned sand, a gift from gods.”
Like I always say “be careful what you wish for.” It was supposed to be a couple’s retreat, and so we thought it would be. We booked the vacation package for five days and six nights with JetBlue airlines and Riu Palace Peninsula Resort, starting June 22nd 2014 which was on the warmth of a summer day.
At the day of the trip, on our way,

We lay stretched out on the beach chairs feeling the warmth of the sun scorching our bodies, while holding a heavenly cocktail made by our favorite bartender Jose. Thankfully, there was a slight breeze sending a mist from the blue ocean to cool us down. I looked as relaxed as any suntan lotion-nosed vacationer could be. I said to myself “This week in Cancun, Mexico, shall be as relaxing and enjoyable as ever; however, there was what felt like a tug of war game going on in my stomach, for something just didn’t feel

I miss them already. Despite the freezing cold snow and the nipping air, we had a lovely Christmas break. As I inspect my child, now grown with children of her own, holding tickets back to their home, longing envelopes me. Hoards of people push past, unaware of my pain, on their own schedules and heading toward different trains, talking and texting on their cell phones. My family boards, time as if in slow-motion, and waves goodbye until I see them again.…

I was smiling the whole time as the skin around my neck was being ripped off. Well I wasn’t actually smiling and as brutal as I made it sound, it wasn’t as horrific an event now that I look back on it. The incident occurred while I was on Spring Break during my freshman year in high school. My family and I were vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee;which if I might add we’ve been there about eight times since I was seven years old. I remember clearly that day down to the exact temperature.…

During April of 2015, I stepped out of the car and onto the beach for the first time in Destin, Florida; the salty sea stung my nose as I breathed in a refreshing breath of briny air. The first step onto the sand was like a bed of blankets; soft and comfortable. The way the white sand glided onto my feet and squished between my toes felt like heaven. The waves were singing a delicate lullaby, pulling me closer to them. As I walk towards the ocean with the warm sand beneath my feet, the cold waves lap at my ankles, as if they want to take me away.…

Then I went to Mexico and felt the warm ocean breeze roll off the waves and thought man it would be tremendous to be somewhere comparable to this all the time. The resort my family stayed at was exquisite and it had a humongous pool. However, the beach was rocky and not enjoyable to relax on causing my family to go around to different beaches that were quite a bit superior. There was this one time where out of nowhere it started storming forcing all the people on the beach crammed in under this canopy. The canopy was an outdoor restaurant so while all the people on the beach waited for the storm to die down, my parents bought us nachos that were super savory.…
