In the novel The Princess Bride S. Morgenstern writes satirical remarks about world stereotypes and compares them with the novel. Morgenstern writes using satires because they mock, they are funny, and it grabs the reader's attention. Morgenstern uses satires to show that a person could be who they want to be and should not care about others comments. In the next passages I will explain how his satirical remarks reflect on today’s society. I will talk about why people have to buy brand names, how society thinks outside beauty is everything, and why an adult should never let a child decide anything about their life.…

All young girls dream of being royalty. Kindergarten fantasies consist of glitter, tiaras, and undoubtedly a handsome prince. “Cinderella and Princess Culture” written by Peggy Orenstein and “The Princess Paradox” written by James Poniewozik are two articles that compare fairytale life to the real world, analyzing the purpose of princesses in today’s society. While both authors use feministic points of view to convey how being exposed to princesses impacts a child’s future, Peggy Orenstein believes marketing strategies and princess trends set unrealistic goals for young girls and James Poniewozik believes modern princesses teach girls how to control their own destiny.…

Therefore, by “treading proudly” she is proclaiming her right to be there. Another reason as to why the native woman represents the resistance to Europeans and the pride of the natives is because she wears “brass wire gauntlets” and “brass leggings” in addition to having her “hair done in the shape of a helmet” showing her willingness to fight against the white man’s power (75). This attire also creates an irony in that the woman is using the skills and devices that the Europeans brought over, though not in the way they intended them to be used.…
