I was getting tired of the sound of gun shots. My ears felt like they were going to bleed. I was at a shooting range, getting ready for the war. People were recruiting soldiers to go to the war. There were supposed to be one man from each household to go to the war. Luckily, we had open area to build ranges, or else I wouldn’t even know how to load a gun! I wasn’t alone practicing my shooting. My friends came to the practice two. For fun, we dress up hay bags full dirt. Then we dressed them in red coats. We all were here because our fathers were too old for the war. My father, James II, moved our family here to lexington in massachusett 17 years ago. In the time here, we met very many friends. We didn’t have much more talk after that conversation. I left for my room after dinner. I kept imagining in my head me reloading a gun. I poured gunpowder into a measure. I poured the powder charge down the barrel of the musket. I took a lead ball a shoved it down the barrel until it touched the powder charge. I took a different powder and a different powder horn and poured the powder down the pa of the musket. The hammer was pulled back and the frizzle was closed, so it was ready to fire. I shot a Brit, then reloaded to shoot again. Eventually sleep overcame my thoughts and I left for my dreams… I suddenly woke up! I heard a horse running through the streets. I got up and looked out the window. I saw a man riding the horse yelling something. I opened out the window and could make up what he was saying. The man was yelling, “THE BRITISH ARE COMING! THE BRITISH ARE COMING! BY SEA! BY SEA!” I rushed out of my room. I saw my parents and my sister coming towards my room. I was thankful that they heard the warning. “Son, we are evacuating Lexington.” My mom
