Black Belt Issues Imagine a scenario where someone has been working hard to achieve something that they’ve been dying to have for four years, and then suddenly right as the time came to finally receive it something happens and now there seems to be no way to get it at all. Think of how they’d react, and more importantly, how they’d feel. That feeling is what I went through when I first moved to Webb City. The four years of practice I went through, how the move was going to affect me and what would happen that night was all I could think about. Four years before I had to move out of town, I officially started going to the Taekwondo dojo in the small town of Lamar. My Momma was extremely sorry that the moving day had to fall on the same day as my test results. I was beyond upset with how things turned out. Don’t get me wrong, I understood that we had to move in before Christmas Break was over so we could start the year once the break was over, I wasn’t mad at her at all. Gordon, who was rather sad to see me go, I would miss him as well. Fast forward to later that evening as we’re packing up the moving truck, I get a phone call on my Momma’s cell. After she gave it to me, I realize that Gordon was the one who called me. We exchange hello’s and after that this is what he said: “Whenever you can, come stop by to pick up your black belt okay?” When he said that, I was overflowing with excitement, I calmly and politely thanked him and promised that I’d come back and hung up.
