Mallory Cattle catastrophes After a whole disastrous string of events containing many visits to the emergency room, an unrepaired broken tooth, life changing tragedy, and many legal issues that prevented me from staying at my own school, I journeyed to a new tiny school in the trash can of Los Angeles called Summit View West. Confused, overly optimistic, and determined to start a new, I did my best to start a new reputation; unlike my old one: “That Gay Awkward Weirdo”. Because I had Hung out with Jessica (The Nose Picker), Danni (The Sl**), Sarah (The Autistic Girl), and Bella (The Stalker), it didn’t help my situation.…

My aunt Jessica and my cousins Sam and Mia came to live with us for a while. Because of the fact that there were six people living in my house now, everyone had to learn to stay in their own bubble and do their own thing. My First Deer One brisk 30 degree day in January, when I was nine years old, was a day for which I was extremely excited. My dad got me out of school earlier that day, so we could go deer hunting. I had already shot a turkey the year before, so guns were nothing new to me. We made a quick stop at my house so that we could pick up the .243 youth edition, a really short barreled .243, that my dad had bought just about a month before so that we could go hunting, and I would actually be able to handle the gun. At this point we did not have the hunting land that we do today, so we went to my grandpa’s house and hunted in the clearing of trees behind his house.…

Often while growing up, we are taught to be good people, to have good morals, and to do others what we would want to have done to ourselves. However, being a good citizen is not stressed nearly as much as being a good person, yet both ideas go hand and hand. The quote "it is impossible to be a good person and not a good citizen" as said by the late University of Arkansas professor Diane Blair, although simple, has a deep meaning. To me, the quote means living the morals I was taught about being a good person while growing up. Having these morals as a young adult and continuing to exercise them today is natural to me, and it follows just as naturally that as I have begun to participate in my community, I am just as naturally contributing, to the community.…
