Personal Narrative: Bike Riding

THE SCARS

Bike riding
Tears
The scars that will forever remain
The “Get up and try again.”
Me doubting myself
Willing to give up.

The flashbacks to when I
Couldn't even start on my
Own because I needed
A boost.

Then I realized that I'm better than what I was
2 weeks ago.
I Was taught to never
Give up.

When I look back now
I see a child almost about
To give up on something
So challenging but succeed
In the end with
MOTIVATION & DETERMINATION.

I failed myself by giving up hope that I would never be able to play sports, walk, or run again. Later on down the road my mother gave me the inspiration, and motivation to get on my feet and walk again. I have learned from that time not to give up , and never stop believing because doing nothing is what makes things impossible. When I was hit by the car I was in pain, but didn’t know what was wrong. Later I found out my leg had completely broken,…

I’ve had to learn that giving up is okay and is sometimes the better option. More likely than not I’ll single-mindedly get myself stuck on one way to solve a problem, not realizing there is a better way to solve it. But because I am stubborn it leads me to work…

I once thought I couldn’t believe in myself! I felt as if I were nothing but a sheet of glass that was completely useless. When there were gloomy days, I felt like broken glass that was scattered all over the ground and I wouldn’t be fixable. So I thought if I joined a sport, I would then, have no choice but to believe that I can do more and accomplish more, and be better than whom I was! When I was little I loved to run…

My own riding career thus far had been a roller coaster ride, tendency to second guess myself battled continually with my natural instincts. Over thinking things led me to over riding, and my mixed signals led my horse to produce ignorance. My consistence hesitation caused my horse and I to become mentally stuck. Each lesson was an interminable cycle of frustration, never reaching nirvana. Riding requires both horse and rider to become one.…

Junior Rider: Lauren Kinley is a fantastic rider that I admire for her sportsmanship. In the past year, she has had one horse go lame (at Finals), one get sent to Michigan State, and one pass away. She has had everything go wrong that possibly could go wrong, and she keeps the most level head about it. She never pulls the sympathy card and never allows herself to be seen as a victim.…

Snowboarding Imagine walking outside in the winter time feeling a cold breeze come across your face when you come in contact with the crisp fresh air. As I step out of the ski lodge into the cold air, I get a spectacular view of the snow capped mountain. The snow sinks in as I step, it’s almost like walking on a cloud. I begin to get anxious as I walk down the icy slope to begin my first ever snowboarding lesson.…

My vision started to fail on mile four of the six-mile hike. Small white specks flickered across my field of vision. The next thing to go was my hearing, followed by my ability to walk in a straight line. My platoon sergeant saw the signs of heat stroke and forced me to stop. I should have stopped myself, but all I could think was: you will finish this, or you will die trying.…

If you have never taught a little girl how to ride a bike, you might want to check the brakes first. This is going to be about the time I taught my sister how to ride a bike. Man powered machines have been around for quite a long time starting from the 1400’s, however, the closer models of bikes that we see today didn’t come into play until around the 1870’s. Though the exact details of who the inventor of the bike was isn’t quite clear, we know that bikes originally started out as an expensive hobby and as mass production took place the bike became a possible mode of transportation (Palermo). In today’s modern age we can see people riding their bikes to work, renting bikes to explore the city, or getting on their bikes to do some intense exercise. Even though a lot of time has passed since the invention of bikes, they only make up a small portion of the daily used transportation. Chicago is lacking behind compared…
