Personal Narrative: Bighorn Mountains

Improved Essays
Bighorn Mountains It's a friday after school and i'm walking home and I see my dad packing. So when I get home I see he's packing our snowmobile equipment and I say “dad why are you packing that, it's nearly the end of february and there's like no snow on the ground.” He said that we're going on a trip that I didn't know about and I didn't want to go but he said that everything will be fun.
We left that night to our friends house cause they were going with us. Everyone knew about it but me. So that night we drove all the way to Wyoming and made it to the lodge the next morning. The plan was to stay the weekend and Monday. So that day our room wasn't ready so all 4 of us went riding for a bit to see what they all had out there. Then we came back to the lodge and got our stuff in our room and went down to eat. I got the ribs and they were really good. That night we just stayed in the lodge and me and my friend played in the arcade.

Later that day it warmed up a bit so we could go riding. After we left we went to the top of one of the peaks to take a picture. We found out when we got up there that the camera didn't have batteries so we went back to the lodge to get some food batteries and hot chocolate. We went back up to the top of the peak and got some pictures and then my dad wanted to go back a different way cause he said that trail was boring and I said “i don't wanna go that way cause we don’t know what's down there.” It turned out I was right and we ended up going down a hill that was nearly vertical. And we had to try to get out the other side but the snow over there was to soft and we kept sinking. So we both abandoned our snowmobiles and started walking but it got too dark and we got really tired. So me and my dad dug a hole with a portable shovel so we were weren't sitting on top of the snow with the wind

A couple days passed and we finally reached Alcove Springs. I looked across the field and saw tall green grass and small hills barely peeking at the top of them. Wildflowers grew everywhere and it looked so pretty blending in with all the nature. The sunset between the small hills was a wonderful sight. We had to find flat land so we could camp there for two nights.…

At first I was caught off guard a little, unsure if I heard them correctly or if it was a joke. Well it was no joke they told us that our father had called and wanted to know if we would like to see him. We sat down and had a long discussion about it. My parents didn 't want to push us into doing something we didn 't want to do but at the same time didn 't want to make it seem as if they did not want us to go. After a long talk my brother and sister decided that they wanted to see how it would go.…

Every summer as tradition dictates I take my cousins on a hiking trip. Every year we try to hike a different mountain for the day and this year four of us went to hike Mt. Tecumseh in NH. This year was particularly an amazing experience as it was great to spend the day with them all together before I had to go to college. I also got to utilize my iPhone’s camera to its full potential to take amazing photographs (which is a new hobby of mine).…

As we continued our drive, the day felt like any other of our typical adventures. We went to go camping at Skinny Dip Falls about 30 miles into the Parkway. Macklemore was playing from the stereo, and my head was pressed against the window, taking in everything the scenery had to offer. I was infatuated with how the layers of mountains seem to fade away perfectly the further they were. There was a fog that clung low to the valleys giving off a “smoky” appearance, which is the reasoning behind its nickname “The Great Smoky Mountains”.…

One of the first things I remember about going on that trip is looking down at my feet and thinking that I would die if I fell. I was nine and very light-headed at the time. It was the winter of 2009 and one of the first times I had ever gone to Colorado. The drive there took about 6 hours from our house so you can imagine my excitement at finally getting out of the car as an inpatient nine-year-old. We were renting a small two story log cabin with a hot tub on the second- floor balcony from a family that had a winter home somewhere in Florida.…

You always hear about great legends, no matter where you are from. All my life I had heard about a great monsters who used to roam The Great Plains in Texas, but none of the stories matched the monster I had found. I lived in a small quaint house right outside of a town in the middle of the Texas Plains. Most of the townsfolk were superstitious. My mother was a carefree and spirited woman who let me roam the flat land, not troubled by the hideous monster myths.…
