Personal Narrative: Belleville Bulls TV Play

Decent Essays
The change two years has brought.
I remember clearly where I was the day the news came across the Belleville Bulls were sold and moving to Hamilton. I was a high school senior I had taking the Family vehicle to school and was on the way to pick up my Father from work as I sat in the parking lot awaiting my Father as had done every day I opened Twitter on my phone. Tim Durkin the Bulls TV Play by Play commenter had tweeted the divesting news I couldn’t believe it.
For some these past two years have gone Fast a blink of the eye or painful slow what do we now on Wednesday and Saturday Nights. I remember thinking shortly after the Bulls had left we won’t be without hockey long, my question which type of hockey….

It was May 10th 1970, at the Boston Garden, one of the most historic events in Boston Bruins history. It was the day Orr flew. I was in the front row seated behind the net when it all went down. I remember it like the back of my hand. The puck dropped and I felt the intensity rattle through my bones.…

I started playing baseball when I was 7 years old and at that time I was actually playing T-Ball. For awhile I played baseball for a place called Twin City. While I was at Twin City I had mostly played the second base position. Twin City was an alright organization because they didn't have players with the best attitudes. Those players with not so good attitudes affected our teams ability to win.…

People coming from a different planet would think every day things we do in life are weird. What we have adapted to and think are normal look very weird to others who haven’t seen people doing things like this. Such as someone who has never shaved before would think that is very odd to shave your beard. Or someone who has never seen a drive threw would think it’s weird to have people have food handed out the window. As we think other cultures are weird we have to look at the fact that our culture is weird to others People that have never seen basketball would thing it is a bunch of people running around with a ball.…

Millions of people go to games or watch SportsCenter every day. I enjoy a good baseball game, but I’ll watch football or basketball if I get a chance. Baseball is great because of the incredible history. Even reading about the old-time games excites me. Football has overtaken baseball as the national sport.…

It’s the first day of summer and I’ve never been more indecisive. My sister is currently on speaker phone expecting me to leave for Chicago in an hour or so for a visit. She’s ranting about all the things we’ll get to do together once I arrive. I’m hoping she can’t hear my desperate pleading in the background as I’m whispering to my mom that I don’t want to go.…

Basketball has been a part of my life as I have played it since I could remember. I was in the school’s team year after year and was even drafted for the team as high school came. However, a bike accident prior to the regional tournament took a toll on my body. The lower pelvic of my right foot was injured and could no longer withstand the stress of playing basketball. All hopes and expectations of playing in the high school team were shattered.…

One ritual my family experiences is having an early Thanksgiving dinner and watching the Dallas Cowboys game. The tradition starts late on the night before thanksgiving. We start by ordering pizza, and then we begin prepping dinner for Thanksgiving Day. My sister and I prepare the side dishes, while my mother, aunt and grandmother make all the main dishes and desserts. We usually stay up all night finishing dinner prep, watching television, and cracking jokes.…

As I get off the bus, and stretch my legs after what seemed like a very long bus ride, I noticed a certain smell in the air. I have been here before, and each time the visits have been very uncomfortable. I love nothing more than to step on the ball field, and smell the fresh cut grass, and my kangaroo skin catchers glove. This ball field was different, for many different reasons. Playing baseball against Mountain Valley was always fun, because we always won.…

All my life I was always put down for being small. Standing at 4’11 now as a freshman in college I get comments on my height every day. So when my basketball coach at the end of my freshmen year of high school blew her high-pitched whistle stopping practice to say “Why is the shortest person on the team jumping high than all of you!” I felt the biggest swell in my chest. That moment in practice was a significant turning point in my life that proves I am capable of accomplishing anything with hard work and dedication.…

The first time I learned basketball was when I am at the 6th grade when my physical education teacher registered me in a basketball summer camp. I used to be a shy and quiet girl but since joining the summer camp I started to socialize and have friends. After two months of learning basketball, I began to like it. Then, I started playing basketball in high school as part of my school’s team and I’ve been playing ever since. It started out as just an activity, and then became a hobby that’s something fun to do but later on, I found that I really like basketball.…
