Personal Narrative: Being In High School

Improved Essays
Being in High School is like being on a roller coaster ride, sometimes you’re going up and sometimes you’re going down, or you’re in a loop. Being in high school has really made me the person I am today. Every thing plays a big part in my life.

After graduating from middle school, i was starting to transition into a freshman. Freshman year was one of the hardest years I've ever been through. My GPA was just above the 2.0 requirement, i didn't know what I was doing. I’m one of those kids who doesn't do their homework until night-time, or a big project until the day before its due. I always procrastinate at the most serious times. I never really took high school that serious because i didn't know what i was going to do with my life after graduating and moving on. In Pre Chem, I was at risk of

It’d be repetitive, I would do it every day and I did not learn my lesson. Until my grades started to drop under a 2.0 gpa. I had to stay low for the time being and just focus on myself because I had to get my gpa above a 2.0, or i would fail and wouldn't be able to walk to stage or have to go to summer school. I made a promise to my family i’d walk the stage and go to college and be the first one to finish. My parents wanted me to make them proud, and i do too. They want me to have the life they never had. They came to the US and didn’t bring me back to the Philippines to have a good life.

What i’ve learned in high school is that time is the most important thing in your life. You can't get it back, you need to use it wisely. You shouldn't procrastinate until the last-minute and hope to have a good outcome. You need to focus and make it perfect and make sure it isn’t rushed through. People say the stuff they teach us in high school isn’t used in the real world., but to me high school has made a big impact on my life and i believe it all will be useful

The transition from High School can often times be very frustrating for students. L. Lennie Irvin opened my eyes to one of the bad habits I picked up on in High school. The habit of straying from the topic or theme could cause me to fail not only papers in English but my other courses as well. I personally had a hard time with English my first semester of college. In High school I was always at the top of my class and my teachers would tell me how great of a writer I was.…

If I had said this to my boss either one of these statements they may not fire me right away but they might keep a mental note of my actions use it against me at another time. The best scenario in my opinion is to do the best job that you can that way you release some of the pressure from your self because you were instructed to do so. I believe that hardest thing for me is finish things it could be simple or difficult but for whatever reason I don’t finish well. Now that I am in college I can look back and say I should have been in school a long time ago.…

Growing up I was always the tallest kid in the class. Whenever class picture day rolled around, I knew that I was in the front of the line because of my height. It was somewhat embarrassing when all the boys were shorter than I, and the girls made me feel bad for how out of place I was. Not only did my height provide social awkwardness, it also administered the constant, never ending struggle of finding garments long enough. Whenever my mom or grandmothers wanted to take me back to school shopping, I made excuses of “I don’t need any more habiliments” or “I do not feel good, all of the sudden…”…

Everyone changes at least once during their time in high school. Over the last few years, I have been through a variety of challenges. Freshmen year was honestly pretty good I had a lot of friends and had a lot of fun in my classes with them, going into Brunswick High School I was a little bit nervous just the fact I would be at the bottom of the totem pole now and would possibly be picked on by the older kids but it turned out to be just a myth, but some of them were definitely scary looking. Some other things I was afraid of was what the class load would be like I didn't know exactly how much tougher it would be but it honestly wasn't to much tougher than middle school. The teachers here were fairly nice didn't have many problems with them but they did definitely hold your behavior to a higher standard. High school was a change from middle school definitely just because…

High school changes people. They express themselves, become opinionated, and they start to look at the world differently as they experience things they have never encountered before. A wise Oliver Wendell Holmes said, “Man’s mind stretched to a new idea never goes back to its original dimensions.” This quote is an excellent way to describe my experience in high school.…

I was trying to get my grades in better shape but for the most part they stayed the same. It was like all of the effort I was putting in wasn’t enough. Towards the middle of the school year I really started worrying about whether or not I would get into college because of my grades. At that point, I really put my effort into overdrive to try and improve my grades the best I possibly could. Instead of working at my after school job, I took that time after school to go the local library to study and get work done and stay after school for help.…

Passing endless room after room filled with rows of desks, where students meet to grasp all the knowledge they can. I press my hand up against the cold, blue metal lockers that are hugged tightly against the cream painted brick walls. The smell of damp and musty air, filling my nose with each inhale. Surviving high school and arriving at the blissful end labeled senior year is an accomplishment that gives me a great sense of pride. High school to the naked eye looks like no real challenge, but on the inside high school can be described as a cesspool of unnecessary drama, crippling school work, and devious teachers. I’ve learned to work hard through even the toughest times in order to succeed. In the past, I have stayed up all night to study or finish a project and have found that the result is always worth the work because I know that I did the best I could do and am proud of what I produced. Along with the value of hard work I’ve learned focus…
